Now that the interview is over, you a probably wondering what the interviewer was thinking. There are multiple signs during your interview to know if it is going well and if the interviewer is engaged.?
This newsletter will explain the 5? biggest signs you want to see.
1. Body Language
A great way to know how your interview is going is to watch the interviewer's body language. As body language is something we do unintentionally, you can gain a lot of information on how the interviewer is reacting and feeling about your answers. Look out for these non-verbal cues.?
2. Smiling
When we are excited about what we are watching or hearing, we show interest by smiling. If the interviewer or hiring manager is interested and smiling along this is a good sign!
Even if you feel the interview is not going smoothly, it is important to remain positive and to demonstrate this in your response. Remember to smile, and be polite and friendly regardless.?
3. Selling the role
It is a good sign If the interviewer or hiring manager explains the role in great detail.
If they are ‘selling’ the role to you then they have an interest in your capabilities. It is a good sign If they compare the role to any previous experience or desirable experience as they want you to be excited too.
However, if in the interview they brush over the role, or explain the position in very little detail then this can mean two things;

4. Length
Another great sign that your interview went well is going over your scheduled time. This can be because; they asked unexpected follow-up questions, the conversation took a natural course and was longer than expected or they were engaged the whole time and lost focus on time.
The length of the interview is very important, if it was cut short this is usually a bad sign. Unless for a specified reason, if an interviewer or hiring manager cuts the interview short before your allotted time, or keeps a constant eye on the clock, this is a possible sign it went poorly.
5. Follow up
Following up shortly after an interview is always a positive sign for a hiring manager. However, if you received no details on the next stages of the interview or extremely little detail, this can mean they have mixed opinions from the interview.
Similarly, if an interview or hiring manager explains the next steps on the application positively without having to ask first then this can mean the interview went very well!
