5 Shortcuts to stay up to date!
Now that most of us are getting back to work after our summer break. I thought it was the right time to share some shortcuts to get you up to speed!
Let’s get to it!
If you've read this far, it's likely you follow me on LinkedIn and have already signed up for my newsletter. In it, I do the heavy lifting for you and make sure you don’t miss a beat of FinTech News.
I’m grateful for your confidence in my news sourcing. I can’t think of a better way to spend my morning than to source the most relevant FinTech news and reports. I do it because it interests me . That’s how you know it’ll be good. But I’ll admit. Doing it for our fintech community, who sees value in my work, makes it worth it even more.
But - It doesn't end with LinkedIn.
There are more shortcuts at your disposal to make sure you are up to date. I know. Making sure you are keeping up with everything can seem like work. And I did promise to cut the noise for you.
?? So, here are a few shortcuts that we’ll keep you up to date and sharp as a knife on the latest insights and reports.
Also, follow these steps and connect with like-minded fintech geeks (including me). We all know the only way to grow your career/business is by throwing yourself out there and networking.
Ready? Here we go!
1?? Ring the bell! ??
Save yourself the hassle of visiting my profile to see my latest posts. Don’t risk missing a vital update because you missed it underneath other news on your newsfeed.
By ringing the bell, LinkedIn will let you know when I post.
When you do this, three things happen.
I appreciate you doing this. I will do everything possible to ensure you’ll see quality content and updates in your timeline!
It’s such a helpful tool that I recommend you do the same with other creators or connections from your network.
Are you looking to share your content on LinkedIn as Content Creator?
Having a creator account on LinkedIn doesn’t make me unique. You can also activate creator mode on your LinkedIn account.
I recommend you do so if you share updates on LinkedIn often. This brings attention to your profile and gets you more views per post. Win-win ??.
2?? Hashtags #??
The most underutilized feature on LinkedIn is hashtags. Their potential to simplify your life is exponential.
Hashtags can improve your timeline. Using them can position you closer to your target audience and like-minded people.
How to start? Follow the most intriguing hashtags on LinkedIn. This gives you the most intriguing news and updates at the tips of your fingers.
Some of my basics: #fintech , #financialtechnology , #financialservices , #payments etc.
?? My recommendations (aka Marcel’s Hidden Gems):
I read and share lots of FinTech deep-dive market research and reports. But there isn’t an archive for all these very relevant and interesting reports. So, I decided to use #fintechreport with every LinkedIn update. Now, you can find all FinTech reports I come across there.
Found something interesting? Why not post it and add the hashtag? I recommend you do the same. Then the FinTech community can all use the #fintechreport hashtag as our archive.
I’m on top of the FinTech funding news and share many updates on this topic daily. So I was looking for a catchy hashtag to go with it.
Something that would call other funding news fanatics and engage them. Prompting them to follow and share the latest updates on this specific topic.
Like Fabrizio Romano is doing with football transfer news. If you are a football fan like me, you know the guy ;) on Twitter .
That’s how I came up with the hashtag #donedeal and even named my FinTech Funding Newsletter after it.
?? I'll make sure you don’t miss any updates!

Whenever I post a news update from the fintech space, I use this hashtag to make it clear it’s hot news.
Do you want to stay up to date on the latest news in FinTech? You should follow #fintechnews .
Sharing the #
The most attractive thing about this shortcut: is its strength in numbers.
? These hashtags are not only for me to use and for you to follow.
? They exist for our benefit, and the more we share updates with them. The stronger our community will be.
With them, everyone in our community gets the news updates and fintech reports they need.
Let's help us grow!
3?? Newsletters ??
If you are here, likely, you've already subscribed to one of my newsletters .
Because I also appreciate FinTech News updates. I share the best news, reports, and analysis from other fintech content creators, too.
?? So, here's the article with my recommendations for my favorite newsletters. Check them out and subscribe if you find them useful.
?4?? Podcasts ??
176 podcast episodes ago, I launched a brief daily fintech news podcast . In it, we bring you up to speed at the start of every day with approx 5 minutes of hot fintech news.
But again, there are many other podcasts that I follow and love to listen to.
?? So, here's the article with my recommendations for my favorite podcasts. Check them out and subscribe if you find them useful.
5?? FinTech Communities ??
And last but not least, I'd like to mention FinTech communities.
Reading about interesting topics in FinTech is a great way to stay up to date. But, as it is with many things in life: practice beats theory ;)
So my advice to you would be: get out there!
Join the community and connect with like-minded FinTech geeks.
Learn from each other and help the community grow our expertise, career, and companies.
In-person events are the best way to network. This year you are sure to find me at FinTech Meetup , Money2020 , or Lendit. Also, local FinTech Meetups provide connections with your city's FinTech members. Check these in-person events out if you haven't already.
I agree. There's nothing quite like in-person events.
Still, the pandemic taught us that many online tools do the job too. We would be remiss to forget that they are there to help us connect.
The upside is that you don’t need to travel, and they are available 24/7!
For this reason, I launched the “Connecting the dots in FinTech.. ” Slack community a few months ago??.
You are welcome to join this group for free. I can’t wait to connect with you there!
?? Another FinTech slack community (from the US) I can recommend is Cambrian HQ . However, it is a founders-only community. If this sounds like you, check it out.
I hope these shortcuts are valuable and will help you source the right FinTech news and updates.
And please let me know in the comments if there are any other sources I should mention!
It could be a creator, podcast, newsletter, or community that is worth following or joining.
?? As long as it’s FinTech related.
Bring it on!
Cheers,
Marcel.
