6 Secrets of a Go-Getter
A version of this article appeared on Shinjini’s column in The Huffington Post
As we prepare to reflect on 2015, several goals and aspirations appear in the rearview mirror. Some fulfilled dreams, some unfulfilled. Some exceeded goals, some not so much. Some surreal highs, some backbreaking lows. Some successes, some failures. The go-getter in us reflects on the happenings of the past year, and feels rejuvenated and incredibly hopeful about the gifts 2016 may bring. We are not exhausted by the hectic activity of the past, but instead, are energized and revitalized to drive our own destinies forward in the upcoming year. Go-getters are truly in a league of their own, so let us discover their top 5 most closely guarded secrets today!
He Believes that His Story Will Be One of the Greatest Stories Ever Written
A go-getter truly believes that his story will be one of the greatest stories ever written in this world. There is a very fine balance, because on one hand, as go-getters, we do not want to be perceived as arrogant or brash, but on the other hand, a healthy dose of self-confidence is healthy. We would do well to encourage our friends and family to cultivate a strong sense of self so quintessential to the millennial community. Feel free to call us self-obsessed, but provided that our confidence is matched with intense labor and devotion to our dreams, there is absolutely nothing wrong with identifying as a go-getter guy of the ME generation!
She Puts Herself First In Order to Be of Service and Value to Those Around Her
To be completely honest, putting ourselves first is fairly looked down upon. It makes us appear ultra self-absorbed. But, the alternative is the idea that if we really dedicate time to invest in building ourselves, our work ethic, abilities, strengths, and areas of development, we actually generate significantly greater value for those around us. Once we reach a position to enable success for ourselves, we also in turn enable greater success for others. It is a common misconception that putting ourselves first is selfish and negative, whereas actually investing in ourselves is probably the best gift we could give to our near and dear ones.
He is Always Planning His Next Move to Inspire and Enable the World
As go-getters, we are hardly ever in one place for too long. Along these lines, a go-getter guy is constantly planning his next move to inspire and positively influence the world. He regularly runs the marathon, and is keen to create an impact that will endure years after he is gone. Along these lines, a go-getter guy is an intense character, and seeks to plan his moves extremely far in advance, as this enables him to refocus his energies.
She Carefully Nurtures her Circle of Close Friends and Family
A go-getter girl knows that it is tough to constantly be on the go, so she nurtures relationships with her close friends and family with great care. She regularly sets aside time to spend with friends and family, and considers this time sacred to focus on what is truly important, as we should too.
He is Proud of Himself for Overcoming Adversity and Achieving His Dreams
A go-getter guy, while unrelenting in his desire to write one of the greatest stories ever written, is also very proud of creating an impact so soon in life. He practices gratitude for his blessings, and for how far in the race he has truly come. Sometimes, it just feels amazing to sit back and congratulate ourselves on how far we have truly come, because I guarantee you that we are much farther along in our journey than we may realize!
She is Proud of Her Ambition and Seeks to Pursue Her Dreams Fearlessly and Unapologetically
These years are the most significantly opportune time to harness our ambitions and fulfill our dreams as confident, educated, and empowered individuals. We are engaging in a gross disservice to ourselves and to society if we seek to squash, or perhaps even more damaging, downplay our ambitions in modern society. It is incredibly critical for a go-getter girl to embrace ambition and the opportunity to create a profound impact that will endure several years after her. Life is considerably more fulfilling when lived with ambition and drive.
