5 Sales Lessons We Should Learn In 2020

Wanna learn something new about sales but don't wanna go through boring books?

Go for movies instead. Business movies like Wolf of Wall Street, The Social Network, and The Pursuit of Happyness are not just entertaining and fun but also teach a hell lot of lessons, showing us a different perspective to see the world that we normally wouldn't learn from traditional sources.

So, without wasting further time, let's explore what I learnt from these business movies.

Here we go!

  • Set Bold Yet Realistic Targets

Sure, you wanna make your company bigger, get more sales, and strive for better financial success but that's not possible without a solid plan.

Set tough goals to motivate the team but not something unrealistic, impossible to achieve. If you run behind impossible targets, it can have a serious impact on your company's reputation because targets over-promise but your product/service may under-deliver.

  • Make Wise Decisions With The Help Of Data

Before making any important decision, you need to make sure you study the customers and the market.

Look at your competitors and gather as much data as you can, and start laying down plans for the company.

  • Show Strengths But Be In Control

Show strong sales numbers and steady healthy growth, but never stop experimenting with new things. Make yourself a bit vulnerable, too.

Always think out of the box and never stop innovating. Even if the experiment fails, never look them as failures, instead, think them as new experiences and continue trying because if you don't, there is always someone who is doing that and one day, that person may leave you behind.

  • Show Your Confidence And Build Trust

Every company needs to have a customer base that puts its trust in them. Without trust, your company will be one of the thousands in the market.

There are hundreds of companies that are building just anything to drive sales and revenues. Be different and build strong innovative products that can solve customer's problems, the product will be remembered forever and so is the brand.

But just because you are solving a problem, don't price it crazily as Apple does with its iPhone, costing an arm and leg to buy. Be humble enough.

  • Think Long-term But Keep A Tab On The Sales

Long-term goals are good for any company but no company can survive without a steady number of sales.

Companies such as Amazon, Uber, Tesla, etc. plan for the long-term. Whenever they enter a market, they study and plan long-term, set achievable goals and strategies necessary to move the company's vision and mission forward.

They keep focusing on key issues such as quality, customer satisfaction and value for money, etc., to make sure customers are well connected with the brand. Thus, ensuring increasing sales numbers.

Conclusion

Movies are great, especially if you are looking to explore new realities and learn new things.

If you are into sales and marketing, you should start watching movies because a lot of times, movies help brands build connections with their customers.

So, what are you waiting for? Start binge-watching right now!

Hey Uddalak Das?, great piece of writing. I love reading such kinds of articles on LinkedIn??. And I also love binge watching.. it's a whole lot of fun and enlightening as well.? A suggestion - you could also add some references of the movies in the respective points you highlighted, it would be easy for the person who reads it to go check out that movie he/she is interested. But it's only my opinion, not because something is wrong with your writing. It's, like I said earlier, worth a read!! ??
