Well, well, well…
Part of being a responsible and successful marketer is, well, doing the mundane background work that not only keeps your account thriving… but keeps it in good standing. While Facebook is not likely to call you with that blocked number to try to shake you down for money, they don't really have to go that route. (Unlike that credit card you opened when you were 18… we sure hope the pleather pants it took you 7 years to pay off were as important to you as ours were to me.)
Because marketers NEED platforms like Facebook, the company knows that your reliance on it will be much the same as any utility you pay at home… You. Have. To. Have. It… unlike, let's say, oh, we don't know… pleather pants.
To keep your account up and running, here are 5 reasons your Facebook Ads Manager account could get shut down.
Knowing is half the battle, after all.
Declined Payments… On Repeat
Whether you are falling behind on your payments or you just forgot to switch your new card into your payment information, Facebook Ads will close your account down if you let things go unpaid too long. Late payments that happen over and over will create the same problem.
Having a Lousy Page
You're welcome! We believe in honest friends and, friends, that's honest! A low-quality page will get you shut down. What creates a bad page, you ask? Sharing fake news, causing disturbances, and all-around inciting antisocial behaviors will make your page look like a spammy page. In a nutshell, don't isolate yourself with gross politics, share the info you haven't sourced or be combative like a cornered possum behind a trash can. #NoMoreSuckyPages #UseAllTheHillbillySlogansWeWant #KnowThyself
TIP: Go to the MORE tab to the upper right of your screen and drop down the bar to click PAGE QUALITY. This will show you if your page has been flagged.
You Have Low-Quality Ranking Scores for IG and FB Ads
Check your ads' quality scoring in the Facebook Ads Manager. You can get a rundown of how you are doing here. If your scoring is subpar, ask yourself these questions: Do I utilize clickbait? Do I use too many words over images? (More than 20% is a significant no-no - at least to Facebook Ads.) Am I annoying the human race into buying my product or offering them actual knowledge/problem solutions/help? It's really not rocket science. I promise.
Your Landing Page Makes People Want to Land AWAY From You
Ahhh. The landing page with a thousand pop-ups that freeze your computer. That will make someone rage-quit their purchase real quick. Broken links? That too. Misleading content? Absolutely. Not enough information? You bet. Steer clear of what annoys you as a consumer, and your landing page will consume far more turnover… and also keep your account up and running.
TIP: Use the Facebook Ad Debugger to check for ways your landing page will land you in account timeout.
You Keep Violating Policy
While you may make a mistake here and there, if you violate Facebook Ads policy repeatedly… you are gonna get flagged and shut down. Take the time to do your research. It will save you a world of hoops in the end. Basically, if you need to be a rebel… be a rebel for cheesecake or something. This isn't the space for that, fam.
So there you have it… 5 reasons your Facebook Ads Manager account could get shut down. Now that you know… knowledge is power. Utilize it, and you will find that the following you seek is also seeking you.
