5 reasons your business needs to be on TikTok
There’s no doubt that Tiktok is here to stay. Launched globally only 2 years ago, it is now the most powerful platform and the fastest growing social media network in the world. Nowhere else can you post a video with zero followers, yet get millions of views and thousands of new followers overnight! And that is not the only reasons why, as a marketer, you should get excited about the platform:
- To begin with, TikTok boasts impressive statistics: At the time of writing the app already had more than two billion downloads with approximately 600-800 Million monthly active users, making it more popular than Instagram. Users open the app about six times a day, for an average total of 62 minutes, and they’re not just scrolling through. TikTok posts enjoy the highest engagement across all of the social media, estimated at between 5-10%, which is significantly more than on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, or any other.
2. When TikTok was first launched, many marketers dismissed it as “only for kids”. But the truth is that the core audience is maturing rapidly. Even though TikTok started out with mainly teens and preteens, there is now a considerably strong section of 20-30 year-olds and the 30plus section is growing fast as well. You’ll soon reach the same audience on Tiktok as on Instagram.
3. TikTok’s unique algorithm gives your content a reach that with other platforms you can only dream of! Whereas on Instagram and Facebook your content will be displayed mostly just to your followers, on TikTok, it’ll likely be seen by a much larger group of users. How? Whenever you post a video it will first be displayed to a small group of users that are most likely to enjoy this type of content. These can be followers and non-followers alike. If they watch and engage, your content becomes visible to more people and more, and then...you know where I’m going with this. So you can post a video, have 0 followers yet overnight you might hit a million views - we've seen this happen many times!
4. Reason number four: Money! There are a variety of ways to earn revenue on TikTok: Similarly to Instagram, you can sell products and services straight to your audience via a link in your bio. Once you reach 1000 followers you can start doing lifestreams and collect money directly from your followers just like on Twitch. Additionally, TikTok has its own influencer marketplace called the creator marketplace, which allows you to complete brand deals with companies. Products and the corresponding e-commerce links can be featured in your videos which makes it very easy for people to buy products straight from the video. For App businesses, a “download app” button can be displayed directly in your profile so people never have to leave TikTok to install the app. And any business can run ads and earn revenue directly from advertising on TikTok.
However, all this is just the beginning as the platform keeps creating a variety of new features that allow you, the user, to generate revenue directly on TikTok
5: For businesses, TikTok is simply the biggest marketing opportunity right now and we've seen companies drive massive results and revenue straight from the platform. Two examples that come to mind are the Old Town Road song which blew up on TikTok and quickly became a number one hit-single worldwide, and the app Zombie Run which, after being featured in a video, has become one of the most popular apps in the US.
