Live video streaming took the world by storm when Facebook, Youtube and Instagram launched the service back in 2016. Have you started to utilise it yet? What does the future hold for live stream?
It can sometimes be hard to know where to put your efforts in on social media. But here are 5 top reasons why you need to start live-streaming today:
- Live video is more appealing to your audience. Statistics show 80% would rather watch live videos from a “brand” over reading a blog post.
If you’ve made it this far you might well be in the 20% and if you’re a millennial and prefer this post you are in the smaller 12% minority.
Now, you might be thinking, “I still create great content for my various social media platforms”, that’s great but;
2. 82% of audiences would prefer live videos to a social post
So the next time a cafe posts a picture of their specials for the week perhaps they should try “going live”, perhaps they could show a staff member eating the meal? Let the viewer see their reaction… if they’re enjoying it… I bet the next time you go out for breakfast you might be ordering what they ate!
3. 67% of viewers are more likely to purchase a product after watching a live video.
What appeals most to an audience is when a brand goes live because they they get behind-the-scenes access. Trust between the brand and viewer is being built, you can’t hide in a live-video whereas sometimes social posts can twist reality. People are starting to become savvy to pictures and reading between the lines. So if you’re selling a beautiful Bali yoga retreat perhaps “go live” and talk about it rather than just posting a picture of you posing.
When was the last time you sat down to watch traditional television? I know I can’t remember either, nowadays it’s Youtube videos, Facebook cat videos or a Netflix series that’s why number 4 isn’t too surprising;
4. 87% of audiences would prefer to watch live, behind-the-scenes content over traditional television.
It’s the old adage;
“Today’s newspaper is tomorrow’s chip paper”
The world is moving quickly and people are more interested in the now. Not what happened yesterday.
People follow people, and people are intrigued by what their influencers are doing right now. Everybody and anybody can be an influencer, which is why the final statistic is important;
5. 45% of audiences would pay for live, exclusive, on-demand content from their favourite athlete, speaker or performer.
We have created an opportunity on Flive app for fitness professionals to grow their brand. People can follow their favourite trainer(s), they’ll be notified every time the trainer has scheduled a live session or workout. Users can train with Personal Trainers completely in real-time from anywhere in the world or they have up to 30 days to watch the video. Why? Because;
“Todays workout is tomorrow’s results”
If you’ve made it this far… thank you, even though you might be in the minority! I hope this have given you the inspiration to begin live-streaming, I know I will definitely continue to do so. Not quite sure how to live-stream? Watch out for the next post which will be around the best practices for live-streaming.
What does the future hold?
By 2019 80% of traffic on the internet will be from video content and live-stream is going to be a large contributor to that.
