5 Reasons Why to Know BSEO

Hello to all of our students!

We hope you are well and that you are enjoying your first week of this academic year!

As you are at the beginning of a new chapter, we thought it would be necessary for you to get to know us. If you are a fresher, you must know that during your Greenwich student experience, we are going to be your best friends. If you are not a fresher, you already know that we are every business school student’s best friend.

For this reason, we would like to introduce ourselves once again to our public!

Hi! We are the Business School Employability Office, but you can call us the BSEO. We are a team of eight highly trained employability advisor, specialised on different topics. Together with us, there is a group of 4 students, also known as ‘Champions’, 1 employability administrator and 2 interns. We are all working together to provide you with the best services and the most amazing opportunities out there that could make your employability journey even more satisfying. We are delighted to be here for you, and we hope you will take advantage of our services, schemes and events specially designed to suit your needs.

Now, you might be wondering ‘Why do I need you guys?’. During your years here at Greenwich is recommended to take full advantage of any opportunity that will help you become the most employable person in a group of applicants. We are the ones that can help you make that happen.

As the title of this article says – 5 Reasons Why to Know BSEO –

1. We offer 1 to 1 appointments that cover topics such as CV, Cover Letters, Job interview preparation and any other thing that you might want to ask about, really. We offer full support to all undergraduate and postgraduate students. Also, you will still benefit from our support for up to 2 years after graduation. Great, right? I told you we were going to be best friends!

1. We offer mobility opportunities such as Erasmus and summer schools. These are amazing schemes that might bring you the greatest memories of your student years. Mobility will help you develop both on a personal and professional level, create strong connections with people from around the world and improve your CV.

1. We offer private career mentoring through the Mentoring Scheme. That means that you will get a mentor within your field of study/interest which will guide you and will offer you all the information needed in order to pursue a career in your chosen industry. The assigned mentor is usually a successful professional within your preferred industry. This scheme will contribute to your journey to achieving your best potential.

1. We design a variety of workshops, events and activities focused on employability, career prospects, development and of course, motivation and inspiration. We are working closely with other departments of the university to ensure that everyone has access to these extracurricular activities. The reason for creating these opportunities is to make sure that all of our Business School students will complete their Greenwich Employability Passport (GEP) with a minimum of 200 points over the 3-4 years of studying here. By the end of completing this scheme, you will be confident with job applications and interviews and you will have a great skill & knowledge package.

1. Last, but not least, we are talking about the Placement Scheme. If you are enrolled in a sandwich year programme or you would just like to extend your studies while getting some valuable work experience, placement is the answer. A placement is a 12 months long internship that will improve your skillset and open your doors to the professional world. We are here to support you with matters such as how to find yourself a placement, what to expect, how to prepare etc.

We know we said only 5 reasons, but we could be here talking about everything that we can do for you until -probably- next year. But no worries, we won’t do that **laughter**. There are so many things to still discover about us, but we will let you take your time and get used to university life before that. Alright, that’s it for today! We’ll see you next week!
