As a founding faculty member at Manara, you will have a unique opportunity to help shape the development of a generation of leaders for Egypt and the world. You will design, shape and be part of many leadership development paths at Manara, such as our unique Explorations Term where you will use interdisciplinary, experiential, and collaborative pedagogies to challenge students to apply their learning to the world around them, our Work program that is designed to develop personal life skills through assigning our students to take responsibilities that are crucial to the community, and our Travel program that involves annual week-long trips and quarterly weekend trips that allow them to interact with, and learn from, different cultures, and learn a variety of outdoor wilderness skills and explore the nature around them.
Manara’s teachers are fundamentally knowledgeable, joyful, and caring mentors, both in and out of the classroom. They possess strong academic and teaching credentials and experience, and they are passionate and knowledgeable about the subject matters they teach. Furthermore, Manara’s teachers are multi-discipline practitioners who encourage cross-disciplinary learning of their students, through inspiring their curiosity, enhancing their understanding of the world’s multilayered challenges, establishing links between them, and pioneering comprehensive problem solving methods to address these issues. They adopt engaging instructional methods including experiential learning, Harkness discussions, problem solving, and collaborative projects.
These challenging tasks require continuous learning, so we are always looking for learning and growth opportunities for our team members at Manara. Our team has and continues to invest significant resources in locating the best professional development opportunities for our faculty members. In addition, we have introduced practices that help us become a learning organization, such as creating safe channels for sharing constructive feedback, undergoing 360-degree evaluations, and organizing reflection sessions to find ways to improve the quality of our work. We have also recently kicked off “Manara’s Diwan”, a space for Manara’s community members to share thoughts and ideas on contemporary issues through engaging in discussions on pre-studied material.

As a Manara educator, you will co-build the school curriculum and its culture, and contribute to the design of its campus. In addition, and being the well-rounded individual we expect you to be, you will model the integration of life habits to your students. You will also lead them through athletic, artistic, technological, and scientific aspects of the program and display your knowledge of and passion for and multiple platforms of expression.
Manara’s faculty are expected to display a healthy and disciplined lifestyle and engage our students in it. This lifestyle is evident in their daily habits, sleeping patterns, nutrition, self care, and self discipline. They are also expected to be independent individuals who are able to manage various aspects of their daily life with resilience and cheerfulness, and keep a healthy work/life balance, and are integral parts of their communities.
