  1. The tough issues we deal with are far more complex than can be covered in a short list. 

  2. Your fooling yourself if you think you have learned much if anything from a listcile.

  3. Often they are advertisements in disguise.

  4. They are addicting.

  5. And so, they are a waste of time....unless, of course, it is listicle I have published.  

However, if you use listicles as the starting place for knowledge, window shopping for what you want to study next, then I think they work.
