5 Reasons February is Underrated

Friendship, love, connection. Let’s get it, let’s give it -- because our time on this planet is finite
Sweet ones!! I’m going all Hallmark on you today because guess what? Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, the day of love. Cheesy? Don’t care. What else is there to cling to in the height of winter, when things feel a little frozen, monotonous and the sentiment everywhere seems to be, “Just hang in there, summer is coming!"
I understand how this little day of love can be misconstrued as a hoax, a cash grab, Single’s Awareness Day, etc. This year, regardless of your romantic situation, I urge you all to focus on friendship, family, and general admiration for your fellow human. Connection. That's the key, the goal, the win. We are wired for this thing called human connection, and we’ve never been more disconnected in the history of the free world, than we are right now. It is the answer, in my humble opinion, to all problems, big and small.
So if you're hating on this month, the vapid Valentine's Day advertisements and constant reminders of romance, keep this little list in mind -- it might change your tune!
5 Reasons February is Underrated:
- February is the shortest month of the year, and we’ve got stuff to conquer and it’s like the universe is on our side. 2020 is a LEAP YEAR! We got one extra day to make magic. Don’t you dare waste it, Pam!
- It’s Friendship Month! The perfect excuse to make plans with your people. Know this: you get back what you give. One of the quickest ways to get YOU back in the game, ironically, is to focus on getting others back in the saddle too. No need to be crazy, just give out a compliment or buy someone a coffee. It’ll do YOU more good than them. I promise.
- February 15, Post-Valentine’s Day. The day that really counts, the day that chocolate prices plummet everywhere.
- February 28 is “Public Sleeping Day,” (according to factsite.com) because you could fall asleep at home, but why not try it on the bus, or at the grocery store? This is a day we celebrate those brave individuals who sleep in public and the habit that leaves them oddly vulnerable. #Respect
- February reminds us that connection is the cure. If nothing else, take this month as a reminder to go all in. Learning how to be a better runner, cook, educator or partner? Having someone to lean on who will remind you to keep going, especially when you fail, will always result in growth for the better.
Like I always say, we're stronger together my friends. Enjoy tomorrow for what it is -- an excuse to focus on connection and treat yourself to several helpings of the chocolate.
