I’m excited to announce the 2nd Annual Interdisciplinary Conference on Orthopedic Value-Based Care taking place on February 9-11, 2018 in beautiful Newport Beach, California. We’ve planned this conference to be even better than last year’s highly-rated event! Here’s five reasons it should be on your to-do list:
1. One Unique Team Concept: The mission of this conference is to break the silos that exist in a patient’s surgical journey. This is the only conference that brings in speakers that represent players from across the episode: orthopedic surgeons, nurses, physical therapists, healthcare executives, anesthesiologists, patients, digital health experts and futurists. In the same vein, we expect surgical teams to attend and take this opportunity to learn from each other and work toward better patient outcomes together. This worked well at last year’s conference where 40% of the participants were part of a hospital team.
2. Two Amazing Bootcamps: On Friday there are two pre-conference bootcamps, one on Outpatient Joint Replacement featuring the experts at Hoag Orthopedic Institute and Illinois Orthopedic Surgery Center, and the other on Orthopedic Digital Health featuring the Chief Nurse Executive from Microsoft.
3. Three Complementary Tracks: I believe value-based care should not be viewed only as an economical model unless you want to fail at implementing it in your organization. It needs to be embraced in clinical, operational and financial roles to be successful. For this reason we designed three parallel tracks for each of these roles.
4. Four Times the Networking: Each day offers four opportunities for networking, including breakfast, lunch and two breaks for exchanging best practices and comparing notes. Plus, a free meet and greet wine networking reception on Saturday night will offer a relaxed atmosphere to share insights from day one.
5. A Five-Star Speaker Lineup: The agenda has 32 world-class, interdisciplinary speakers. The keynote speaker is Eric J. Schneidewind, JD, President of AARP, an organization that endorses the conference mission of focusing on the patient and breaking the silos. He will be speaking on “the new definition of aging.” Other speaker include ortho experts like Dr. Todd J. Albert, Surgeon-in-Chief Hospital for Special Surgery; Alexander R. Vaccaro MD, PH, President and Surgeon-in-Chief at Rothman Institute Orthopedics; Jan Vest, MBA, CEO of Signature Medical Group; Kevin J. Bozic MD, MBA, Chair of Surgery & Perioperative Care at the Dell School of Medicine and more.
