What are your passions??

My passion has always been centered around public service, especially in areas like behavioral health, missing and exploited children, and science-related fields, including space exploration and renewable energy. Personally, I now enjoy spending more time with my grandchildren.?

What were some of the highlights of your time in Congress??

During my ten years in the U.S. House of Representatives, I was fortunate to be involved in some significant work. One of my most memorable moments was presenting, on behalf of a U.S. Congressional committee, a major treaty before the Hague Convention with 80 countries. This treaty aimed to help find abducted children globally and reunite them with their rightful parents. I also served as the ranking member of the Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee, where I authored the Space Exploration Act of 2003, which set the goal for the U.S. to return to the Moon and eventually reach Mars. Additionally, I helped pass legislation that required NASA to place the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) on the International Space Station. The AMS is a multinational particle physics project designed to study space travel and the potential dangers of cancer-causing particles in the universe.?

How did you get interested in cybersecurity??

My interest in cybersecurity developed through various professional relationships, especially with Invisinet. I was intrigued by the concept of cloaking to protect vital assets, which sparked memories of my past work promoting research and development, particularly in energy resources and facilities. Ultimately, I’m fascinated by how smart people and advanced technology can come together to make the world a safer place.?

Given the current geo-political environment what do you see are some risks or opportunities in the realm of both physical and digital security??

I first became aware of the importance of critical infrastructure security during my time in Congress, where I saw the potential dangers posed by terrorist attacks on commercial businesses and national security. I’ve always been concerned about vulnerabilities in essential systems like water, electricity, oil, gas, and transportation. Today, these systems are more vulnerable than ever to cyber-attacks, especially those carried out through data and satellite communications. These threats have the potential to cripple businesses, economies, and even entire nations. I believe the U.S. and other countries must work together more proactively to prevent these attacks. Acts of diplomacy and sharing scientific knowledge are essential to managing global security.?

What do you hope to accomplish on the Invisinet Advisory Board??

On the Invisinet Advisory Board, I hope to help raise awareness about the company’s innovative cybersecurity solutions. It’s critical that companies and governments understand how to protect their vital assets. Every year, a trillion dollars are lost or spent due to hacking, which ultimately hurts people. Drawing from my experience in critical infrastructure and my professional network, I intend to make a difference for Invisinet Technologies and its clients.?
