Kicking 2023 off, January's edition is with our Head of Lending, Susan Walker

Question One - How has the role of a Credit Risk function changed over the years?

Credit Risk has evolved in many ways, mainly adapting to the changes in the regulatory environment with a greater emphasis on customer affordability, making sure we are always making the right decision for our customers.

Question Two - What are your 2023 Credit Risk predictions?

Use of new data and technology to drive improvements of key measures for customers, e.g. supporting through inflationary pressures and commercially driven optimisations, as well as better analytical insight.

Question Three - How can systems or technology support Credit Risk departments?

Systems and technology support credit risk a great deal, as it allows us to gather more information about customers to inform responsible lending decisions, this could either be through credit reference agency data improvements (e.g. trended data) or tools that allow us to assess customer circumstances such as open banking.

Question Four - What is your favourite part about being in Credit Risk?

The variety of work in combination with fast paced environment means no two days are the same, it’s never boring!
