5 Questions to get Closure on 2022
Are you also getting whiplash from the speed that we're heading to the end of 2022? To me, it feels like the days, weeks, and months this year have just melted as quickly as butter in a frying pan. How can it be the end of December already??
With time zooming by so quickly, it is easy to fall into the trap of running around like a headless chook and missing the opportunity to reflect on 2022, with all its ups and downs and round and rounds.
However, if you want to be conscious as you move through your life, if you desire to intentionally create your reality, it's really important to take the time to have some important conversations with the most important person in your world - you!
Below are 5 questions to ask yourself to get closure on 2022, so that you can move into 2023 with a feeling of excited anticipation for what's to come:
1. What made you feel most lit up this year? You know that beautiful feeling when you feel excited, expansive, and full of joie de vivre? Write a list of all the times you felt that way in 2022, and what you were doing to make you feel that way.
Maybe you started a new hobby that you absolutely love, had a really rewarding experience at work, went on an incredible holiday, or met a new person or people whom you felt very connected with.
Try to remember all the details. Where were you, who were you with, what were you doing, what were you seeing, smelling, tasting, etc. engage the senses as much as possible. Revisit those experiences in your mind and body and tune into the emotions you felt. The more you sit in the energy of these emotions, the more of these positive emotions you will attract into your reality - this is how the law of attraction works.
2. What didn't go as you would have wanted it to this year and what did you or can you learn from those situations? Maybe you missed out on that promotion or new job opportunity, got sick more than you would have liked, had a relationship breakdown, a stressful situation in your business, or other smaller disappointments.
When we experience negative circumstances, it always offers us a chance to learn something about ourselves. However, to do that, we actually have to pay attention to the circumstance and what the lesson may be.
For example, this year I missed out on a business opportunity that I was sure was mine. I felt rejected, disappointed, and knocked for a six. Instead of avoiding these emotions I purposefully let myself feel them and when I was ready I considered what lesson I needed to learn from this circumstance. One of my lessons was that I had to let go of controlling every circumstance in my life and that the work I did in preparation for this opportunity is not a waste, in fact, it's since led me to my next opportunity, which is even better than the last!
3. What are you most proud of that you did this year? Think of all the things that you achieved this year no matter how big or small. Did you kick a bad habit, achieve a milestone with your work, help someone in need, contribute to your community, have that difficult conversation you were avoiding, and the list goes on and on. How did you feel when you achieved these things? Tune into those emotions, as you celebrate your wins.
4. Who contributed to your life this year? Who are the people in your life who make you feel connected, inspired, grounded, grateful and happy? Write all their names down and then look at each of their names one-by-one and take a moment to express gratitude for each person and how they make you feel by being part of your life. If you like you can take this one step further and tell the people you love having in your life, how you feel about them.

5. How do you want to feel next year? Now that you've reflected on the things that have made you feel good in 2022, what are the emotions you want to feel in 2023? Do you want to feel more joy, pride, connected, inspired, love and freedom?
One way to bring this about is to feel those feelings now! A great way to do this is to remember a time when you felt those feelings and use your imagination to dwell on that memory.
This is a great exercise to do with your team at the end of the year, and let people share what they're comfortable sharing. By taking off our masks and speaking truth, we create deeper connections and there's no better way to get closure on 2022 than a dose of human connection.
