5 questions with EHN Payor/Provider Relations Liaison, Amanda Dorman
To celebrate our 5th birthday, we're running a new feature. Five questions with employees of Eastside Health Network (EHN). This month, we talk to EHN Payor/Provider Relations Liaison, Amanda Dorman.?
Amanda Dorman is the Patient/Provider Relations Liaison for EHN. Many of you have interacted with Amanda, but if you haven’t, you might wonder exactly what she does. “My job is unique,” Amanda says.
She continues, “I build relationships with the doctors and managers at our clinics and our hospitals. I make sure they have what they need function optimally. I can help with materials and medical supplies. And I help coordinate between them and our wonderful EHN team.”
Amanda has only been at EHN for about six months, but she’s already an integral member of the team. Her ability to work through a startling to-do list and her keen emotional insight combine to make her a powerful asset. If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Amanda, we recommend you take an opportunity to get to know her a little.
To help get you started, she answers five questions below.
What is your favorite part of working at EHN?
From having been previously in a small work group and then joining a very large organization, I can see the benefit of going back to a small team because we can all interact in a way that is meaningful.
You get to know your coworkers and their roles. The interaction between our group is more meaningful. I am also learning something new in my current role. Even though I’ve been in the medical field for a long time, I’m getting to see these beautiful stories of how our EHN team has helped patients. In a bigger group, I didn’t have the opportunity to go above and beyond. I love the patient stories and the people. This is a great team at EHN.

How has EHN changed since you joined?
I can see with the hiring of Alicia [Quaco, EHN Director of Operations] that we have?a more structured way of doing things. She has been really helpful for an organization that is growing. But I haven’t been at EHN long enough to have a great answer to this question.
Our Medical Director, John Nelson, asks this question to each new hire, and I’m sure you know where I’m going … What was your first concert?
It was Martina McBride. She’s got such a beautiful voice.
Can you tell us about your pet situation in your work-from-home environment?
I have one cat. Her name is Mia. She is, I think 13. We got her as a stray kitten. I am definitely not the boss of the relationship. She uses me for food, water, and occasionally a quick little pet. She adores my kids. Almost every picture of my boys, when we’re at home, she’s in the background.
Working in health care can be draining, especially these days. What is your favorite type of self-care?
I like my introvert quiet time. You put in so much extrovert time when you’re in a health care setting. I love to just go home, read a book alone. I love nature. That really recharges me.
