What is consciousness and how does it apply to your daily Life and Career?

To live consciously is to be present in the here and now. And not to be carried away by thoughts of the past or the future.

You will always be focused on what you are doing and will not be spraying on trivial things. You stop letting some things go unnoticed and switch to autopilot to get through the day.

Consciousness is the habitual monitoring of your current communications, experiences and thoughts. Being Awake and Alert.


Why is it so important?

As you become conscious, you free yourself from the perceptions of other people - your parents, your spouse or anyone else. You are no longer under the control of your subconscious programmes and stereotyped reactions.

You become flexible and appropriate.

You are no longer ruled by fear, shame and guilt.

You listen to only one thing - to your common sense.

Why does it hurt so much to be conscious in the beginning?

Changing your dysfunctional behaviour requires you to make an effort. It is by doing these uncomfortable or difficult things that you are helping yourself to 'train' or develop an area of your life.

How to become such a fearless person?

  • Set aside time for daily reflection, journaling, meditation, activating your senses. Open up to yourself.
  • Practice Conscious Thinking. Observe yourself in your interactions with others - can you avoid bias by jumping to conclusions?
  • Listen actively, show genuine interest in what people say.
