5 Qualities You Must Possess To Build a Great Team

We all talk about how wonderful it is to have a great team, and we all understand the shortcomings we face for not having a great team.

What is a great team exactly?? It’s a team that performs, a team that adds on in the business you are doing, a team that is a problem solver, and a team that selflessly helps each other for the greater good.

 You can build and retain a team like this by practicing these simple qualities;

1) Positive Reinforcement: 

It is always fruitful to count someone’s strengths than ridiculing their weaknesses. If you encourage them for their strengths, it would be easy for them see their weaknesses by themselves without you pointing them out.

As a supervisor, you should be able to utilize them for what they are good at in favor of your business.

2) Empathy: 

You must be sensitive for the problems of your team. Instead of assuming anything on your own, it is better to try believing them and helping them with their issues. Do put yourself in their shoes every now and then. Looking at a problem with their perspective and eliminating it accordingly would be a good problem solving exercise for you.

3) Appreciation:  

Appreciate your team in timely manner, never delay it. The delay looses the impact. Do have an attitude of being thankful that they are with you and make them feel important to the company rather than making them feel obliged that you gave them the job.

4) Punctuality:

The best example you can set for your team is of your own and being punctual is the most important of all. Don’t appear late for meetings or at office on regular days. This would encourage your team to be punctual and more serious towards their work.

5) Working With Them:

Work with them as one of them. Get out of your comfort zone and be with them. Learn how they work and do a small task with them every once in a while. That would not only make you know and understand the team better but you will also find a number of learning opportunities.
