THE 5 QUALITIES I LOVE IN THE PEOPLE ON MY TEAM
If you had to choose five qualities when recruiting a person for your team, apart from the information you get from their CV, which ones would they be?
The other day a friend and I had this conversation and this is what I said to her, thinking about my Merck communications team, the Merck people I interact with often and also those who have been part of teams in the past:?
1. Courage: I like people who are able to go ahead without fear of stumbling. They make thoughtful decisions but with a certain amount of risk. They don't agree with you because you are the boss (if this is the case), but they challenge you and make you grow and you grow too. They are often young souls, no matter how old they are.
2. Honesty. I immediately fall in love with people who behave with consistency and sincerity. They don't change their arguments based on their personal interests but because they have found one that is better for everyone's interests. Who have a word and a base on which they stand that gives them solidity. That you can trust them blindly even if sometimes you do not share their attitude or their thinking. That they are fair.

3. Ambition. I am a fan of HDL ambition (the good ambition, like cholesterol. The desire to get ahead at any price would be the LDL ambition or bad cholesterol). Don't settle for the basics, go beyond. This is closely linked to vision. "I see it, I measure it, I pursue it, I do it". Ithaca is always beyond, isn't it Kavakis??
4.Creativity. Creative minds are the ones that innovate, or at least activate the engine of innovation. They are usually free minds and are able to dance with disruption. Of course, the ability to incorporate the bridles of reality and adapt their thinking to the circumstances, resources, etc.
5. Sense of humour.?It is a sign of intelligence and also manages to degrease the most tense situations, oxygenate the most complicated challenges, unite teams and provide projects with a special energy. It is fuel. Essential to run a rally.?
(I haven't talked about flexibility, work capacity, commitment, generosity, accountability... I'll leave those for another day).
