5 Pro-tips To Create Compelling Content!

5 Pro-tips To Create Compelling Content!

Food for thought: What is the average number of articles you read before crafting your content piece? 6-10? Does that help in the real sense?

I see reading, researching & rephrasing as three different aspects of content writing.

While reading means only understanding & grasping a particular concept, researching is diving deep into the unknown waters of a subject matter. Rephrasing, on the other hand, is just adding synonyms, antonyms, better phrases to an idea that already exists. Which is fine, but where do you see creativity & innovation in this?

No, I am not going to lecture you on creativity & innovation. You know what you're capable of, and my statement won't move heaven on earth.

However, what I am going to question is your research pattern. Content Writers like us think that running a Moz, KeyToolIo, Ahrefs or Keyword Planner search is enough to write great pieces of content, one that fetches best SEO results.

Sorry to disappoint, but it isn't.

Rephrasing, Paraphrasing or taking Inspiration from something that already exists may not adequately & efficiently work in your favour.

Why? Because your audience is maybe differently placed in the buyer's journey. Hence, giving them irrelevant content will stray your potential leads.

Here's what you can do in your research & writing that enhances the quality of your content, keep it relevant, trustworthy & make an instant connection with your customer.

1) Pay Attention To Your SERP Analysis & Content-Length - In most cases, we are often drawn to the high ranking keywords/keyphrases. However, SERP analysis shall give you a fair idea of how google's algorithm works & picks up content.

An ideal content length for a line should be anywhere between 8-12 words, and for a paragraph not more than 2-3 such lines. For those who don't know, you can run your content on the HemingwayApp to check the score. 7-8 is a decent score. Anywhere beyond this, needs attention.

2) Study Buzz Sumo Analysis - This is an excellent tool if you're into blog/article writing. It gives you a detailed report of what topic or blog is trending in your domain. This gives you an edge on what should you write about & how. A powerful insight tool that helps you step into unknown waters.

3) Collate 3-4 Niche Topics To Frame One Broad Topic - This is also called the hub & spoke model. I generally use this, for it gives me an edge to play around content that is multi-dimensional. Your hub becomes the centrepiece of your article & the spokes become the supporting subject matters.

4) Use StoryTelling - Interact with the right brain of your customer's mind. Giving something more than facts & figures leaves an impression in a reader's mind. You want either yourself or your story to loom in the reader's mind. Hence, try incorporating storytelling that resonates, adds-value & leaves an everlasting impression.

5) Eliminate Jargons - If you've read this article so far, I don't need to explain this point. You want to comfort your reader by giving them a simple language. Of course, a lot depends on the audience you cater to. But, a light read is what everyone wants at the end of the day.

With this, I come to an end of a long-due, top-of-the-mind article that I've wanted to write. Most of the things I said are common-sense & something without which a decent piece may not be "decent" in the first place.

Hope to bring more such experiences from my routine for those trying their hands-on content marketing & content writing. Cheers!
