5 PRACTICAL MONEY TIPS FOR YOUR SIDE HUSTLE

Firstly, I'm not your money guru - in fact I used to have a toxic relationship with it and not in the way you think... Just because someone can make money doesn't mean they are good at it.

Your money story, behaviour and relationship with it begins early. Your subconscious absorbs that of your family's relationship with it from a young age. Think back to your parents or guardians - were they generous or tight with money? were they investors or risk adverse? were they a great savers or great spenders?

When I coach early-stage entrepreneurs, money inevitably comes up in the first few weeks together. We talk about how to create income and revenue but also ideas on how to re-invest it back to your business growth to scale it.

START WITH YOUR MONEY STORY

Your financial abundance mindset and money outlook first needs a little retrospective time. Without this, you'll be unable to move past why your behaviours influence the way you can ultimately create unlimited wealth. So often we forget to first do the inner work before we can change the outer world. I spoke about my money story in a tell-all raw reflection of my money story. I realised my relationship was for a time completely bipolar. I saved $100,000 one year and then spent $60k of it on drinks, partying, designer clothes, luxe holidays and hatted restaurants. I would casually throw $5k into a crypto portfolio and not give a shit if I lost it all. I would trade FX and love the highs of it - made a truck load of cash one year and lost it the next. One year I invested in 3 properties and lived off 2-minute noodles and cereal for a year. For 3 years I went into Scrooge mode and saved and saved and saved and was too afraid to spend a single cent. This yo-yo relationship with money was clearly an unhealthy one - something had to change. Like I said, I'm not your money guru.

BREAK THE CYCLE

It wasn't until I started to recognise my patters that I could start to re-program my money mindset. With each iteration I started to clean up the spaghetti code that was my behaviour with it. I also met my husband in the worst of the storm for me. When the inevitable chat came to merge finances because we wanted to buy some property together I didn't even know how much I had saved!

MY MONEY MANIFESTO

Today my relationship with money is very much on the mend. I love making it. I love investing it. I love sharing it. I love donating it. I love that I can be incredibly generous. I love spending it on things that give back to my soul. I love the possibilities it provides to grow a space so my message can be spread far and wide. I love that I know money is just a vehicle to what I want from this life. I love that money represents my big ticket dreams. I love that I'm financially free. I love that I know money is abundant for everyone. I love that I can use it as one but help tens of thousands.
