Do you ever think how the super successful people in the world did what they did?
Very often we only see the “end product” of successful people. And very rarely do we stop to study their lives to understand how they made themselves. We see Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Jack Ma, Elon Musk, Albert Einstein, Mozart, Usain Bolt in their full realization and success. But not always do we really know how they got there.
What do we really know about their journeys? Were they just lucky? Were they more talented than anyone else? Did they have something especial? How did they do what they did?
If we were to ask them, perhaps most would be humble enough to say that it was through perseverance and a little luck that they were able to achieve their deeds. But there’s more than that.
Successful people a philosophy of life that is critical in their success. For example, they see failure only as a learning experience and step before success. Others see collaboration as the best way to produce the best results. Others praise simplicity and think of it as the greatest way to live.
I put together some of the most powerful ideas behind successful people’s philosophies of life. In doing so, I’m trying to help you craft a work mantra for yourself.
Mantras are positive statements. As we repeat those statements to ourselves, we come to believe more and more in them. A mantra is not a goal, neither a current state. It’s a life philosophy put in a short, simple statement. We don’t “achieve” a mantra. We live by it. And super successful people know how to draw powerful energy from their mantras for them to keep pushing along even in the face of the hardest adversities.
A mantra is a statement full of words of personal encouragement. A mantra helps us surf through the difficulties and adversities in life. This is especially true when our strengths weaken, when we hesitate and become doubtful about ourselves, and when we don’t really know whether we can make it or not.
Your mantra is yours. You have to think about it and create it. You have to feel it. And the reason why I want to share with you super successful people’s mantras is because I think they can help you understand how simple and powerful they are.
“That's been one of my mantras - focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple” Steve Jobs
Too often we try to overthink and overcomplicate things, both in our personal and professional lives. Don’t! First of all, try to start focusing on the important things. Don’t get carried away by meaningless things. Second, live simply and achieve simplicity. We live in an era of overstimulation. Well, in your work or your personal life, make things simple. The mantra is “I can focus on what's really important and do things with simplicity”.
“It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently” Warren Buffett
Your reputation and integrity are very sensitive. If you do things right, you’ll be slowly making them stronger. But, ruining them can happen instantaneously. Make sure your decisions are based on the right things and that you act righteously. It will help you gain other people’s trust at the time that it makes you a better person. The mantra is “I am a trustworthy person. My integrity is my most important quality”.
“No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it” Albert Einstein
Pick any super successful person in the world. Now, think about this: did they do what they did by following rules, by being a conformist, by accepting the status quo or by trying to solve problems within what it was known at the moment? I don’t think you’ll find any. Ultra successful people are curious, imaginative, innovative, wonderers. None of them think that there’s only way to do things. They rather believe that there’s always an opportunity to make things better. Don’t conform! That’s the mantra! “I won’t conform to the status quo. I'm curious and will use my imagination to solve difficult challenges”.
“I think it's very important to have a feedback loop, where you're constantly thinking about what you've done and how you could be doing it better. I think that's the single best piece of advice: constantly think about how you could be doing things better and questioning yourself” Elon Musk
Self-confidence is not equivalent to absolute truth. The most successful people seek hard to be proven wrong. Only then can they realize how strong their idea is. Don’t go around thinking that you have all the answers or that you are the owner of the truth. That makes you a tyrant, not successful. Seek feedback, make sure that you are assumptions are correct, try to prove yourself wrong to make your ideas better. In short, the mantra is “I’m like a bamboo: strong and flexible. I’m open to others’ ideas and feedback, and willing to learn”.
“The very important thing you should have is patience” Jack Ma
The good things in life take time. Jack Ma knows a lot about it. He struggled a lot during his life, after being rejected over and over again. Today, he’s one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world. It’s all about patience. The mantra is “the best things in life take time. I’ll work hard to realize my potential and achieve my dreams, and will be patient all along”.

7 年I really like this post @Enrique Rubio, CSM, CSPO It's so important that we trade useful experiences, ideas and skills. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. Here is something I grabbed recently that is helping a lot of us entrepreneurs. It's a really powerful book, broke through 43 countries and is still going strong. Guy teaches CEOs how to triple their sales in 18 months as well as get into the best state of mind for building a business. Awesome, awesome, awesome...copies were still complimentary when I last looked but I don't know how long that is going to last - here's the link https://bit.ly/2u2KPgW Enjoy and do let me know if you benefited from it!
