5 ‘Ponzi’ Scheme on LinkedIn We Couldn’t Stop Falling For

LinkedIn is an evolving Social Media platform and is unique in many ways. If you are new to LinkedIn I am sure you must have already observed and understood some of the below ‘shortcuts to success’ here and if you are active here like myself, everyday you see these on your Feed.

So, let’s stop hitting the bushes and cut to the chase-

1-     Comment INTERESTED and I will see your profile

Post with job requirements from every damn field (IT, Sales, Petrol and Energy, Hotel industry etc. in the same company <usually no name> with no bar on salary)at some dream locations like US, UK or Ponzi favorite Dubai.

These posts receive 1000s of INTERESTED comments but no one ever even care to go through your profile, forget about offering a job (I tested personally).

 I understand the concept of 'hope' guys but this is ‘unrealistic desperation’, stop that for your own good buddies.

2-     I got X thousand followers in one week, comment OPEN to get the same

This is my favorite and is too tempting to try! People with good number of followers do this and now actually everyone do that. A post thanking for 100k followers in a week and because the person has achieved salvation, he wants to give back the followers!

How? By asking you to comment on his/her post. Voila! Rabbit from the hat.

And finally the person will get more followers and what you get? RABBIT

Guys, if you want people to follow you, you have to bring something on the table to offer them. And even if you get some followers by this scheme, they are too lazy as you because they fall in the trap too. So, it’s no point of such connections.

3-     Not Sharing But Copying the Post

I see it everyday. Some supersmart humans will copy your post and then share it on their own wall.

There are two categories then –

a)     Won’t give you any credit and if you ask, will ignore you, delete your comment etc.

b)     Will give you credit BUT wont tag your profile. Will simply write your name! I don’t know how it will help me. If you have time to copy my content, remove my website url, add your website url on that - atleast add my PROFILE LINK.

If you like someone post, SHARE it ! LinkedIn even gives you option to add your own thoughts on it – WHY TO COPY THE CONTENT?

4-     You Endorse Me – I Endorse You

Recently picking the pace! You will get so many messages of exchanging the endorsements even if they haven’t even seen your profile ever forget about knowing your expertise.

This trend has made the ‘Endorsement’ option absolutely pointless. No recruiter now gives much attention to these endorsements even if they are genuine!

5-     Double tap when you see the DUCK/PANDA/GIRL etc in the blurred picture

Although it reminds me of my golden “Orkut Era”; it is something I think can be omitted from LinkedIn atleast. Am I being the moral police? NO.

It is not harming anyone and is the least PONZI of all the above but still I feel it’s good if it’s not there.

We all see and understand these scams but we usually ignore it and what it do- it motivates more such posts and demotivates people who really write good posts.

I leave it upto you to decide how you want our LinkedIn to be.

those scrolling posts creates a lot of headache , so much fake , one person shows im superiod , i know this and that , some will show super impressive (which is unnecessary ), some people does chugli , 1000's of posts which arent useful . scrolling scrolling literally feels is this necessary ?

One thing i understand is what they are doing will give them likes and comments but it can never give them results they want in terms of business leads, personal branding etc Vishal Bhardwaj
