5 pointers to consider if Employee Empowerment does not give you the results

The key resources of an organisation is its employees. Throughout the recent years the concept of employee empowerment has been practiced by many companies to improve the overall productivity. This is known for employee motivation and makes them feel that they are an important part of the organisation. Unfortunately, certain companies find it difficult to ensure that their employees feel this way and at the same time may not witness the result they expect.

Here’s 10 pointers to make your employees take more responsibility and create a more positive work environment for everyone to be a part of.

1.      Demonstrate your trust in employees

The best way to gain employee loyalty is by showing your staff that they have your trust. Make them feel that you believe in them bringing an important brick towards the organisational success. It is encouraged to let employees lead their own projects in their own way. It may not always be 100% successful, but it is necessary to make sure you are available to provide a helping hand when needed.

2.      Making sure you are on the same page

Being a leader figure it is important to get all your employees on the same page, providing them with a clear vision. Only then the employees are able to create projects and establish goals based on their clear understanding. Clearly define the roles of your staff so they know their duties and it does not coincide with another. At the same time it is important to listen to your employees, clear their doubts, ask their suggestions and progression, and provide constructive comments simultaneously.

3.      Be open to creative thinking

Each individual has their own way of doing things. Just because a certain pattern has been followed to solve or conduct business activities it does not mean it’s the only way. Be open to employee suggestions as they might have a more effective and trending way to conduct activities and bring better results. Feel free to share certain challenges that need to overcome and encourage out of the box thinking as it is accepted that two heads are better than one.

4.      Be flexible on deadlines and targets

Projects and targets cannot be achieved smoothly every single time. There are unfortunate situations where employees face personal restrictions or unexpected circumstances where they are unable to achieve their deadline or expected results. This can also be due to delays happening within the organisation as well. In such a case be flexible with employees and provide them with guidance and support to complete their task and encourage them to add more effort. Such actions tend to create a sense of motivation and responsibility within the employee to work harder.

5.      Show that you appreciate their effort

At the end of a successful completion, every employee likes to be appreciated for what they have done. It makes them feel important and encourages them to work harder the next time. At the same time it is important to appreciate the contribution of work even if the targets were unable to be reached, motivating them to work harder to mend their mistakes. By not doing so can demotivate of key employees as well.
