Last week, a fellow CEO visited N2N and talked about 5-percenters. Everyone knows about the 0.001 percenters - the most successful CEOs like Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Larry Paige and the like. Some people do talk about 90 percenters that fail to take off. However, there are about 5% businesses that survive their teenage years and can take-off anytime. The launchpad can be an investment event, key contract or a strategic change in business or the company that met the inflection point.

My personal story

As a 5-percenter, I have had to deal with several issues that come with a growing business. I am a strong believer in ethical entrepreneurship and I run my business with an unrelenting mission to serve the greater good of transforming education. I implement a simple "trust first, verify later" approach for running business. I have realized recently that business ecosystem can be inherently selfish and prone to betrayal. Your business partner, potential VC or advisor can betray you to serve their personal agenda. So - please be ready to "verify first, trust later".

Fellow 5-percenters, beware of the sharks in the ocean. While the opportunities are vast, we need to stay strong and healthy to succeed.
