5 NEW Ways to Volunteer with ASNT
ASNT (The American Society for Nondestructive Testing)
It’s?Volunteer Week?here at ASNT! All of our programs, publications, and services are made possible by the expertise and tireless efforts of our volunteers, and we greatly appreciate their dedication to creating a safer world.
Last year, we shared? The Top 5 Ways to Become an ASNT Volunteer. This is still a great overview of the different volunteer opportunities available through ASNT. However, we’ve had so much going on in the last year that we wanted to dig deeper into some of the newest opportunities to get involved in ASNT’s mission. Here are five new ways to volunteer with ASNT!
1. Help Women Succeed in NDT with the ASNT Council for Women in NDT (WIN)
The?ASNT Council for Women in NDT?was recently elevated from a committee to a council to highlight the importance of their mission, which is “to help women enter and succeed in the field of nondestructive testing.” The Council comprises five teams: Outreach; Program; Career Resources; Communications; and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Membership in the WIN Council is open to all ASNT members: to get involved, click on the “get involved” button?here.
Members can also read more about the WIN Council in the March 2022 issue of?Materials Evaluation.?https://asnt.org/MajorSiteSections/Publications/Periodicals/ME
2. Become an ASNT Mentor
The?Mentoring Program?has undergone updates that went live in August 2021. All components are now accessible in a convenient web-based platform including profiles for both mentors and mentees that will help connect people from around the globe and communication tools to help facilitate a productive relationship. 3. Contribute Content to the Redesigned Materials Evaluation

ASNT’s monthly journal,?Materials Evaluation?(ME), debuted its redesign at the beginning of 2022. The updates include many new sections featuring content submitted by readers. Members can contribute to?ME?by

4. Get Familiar with the ASNT Strategic Plan
At the beginning of the year, ASNT unveiled the?ASNT Strategic Plan. This plan is the association’s road map for the next five years (2022–2026) and identifies six strategic objectives (referred to as “pillars”) which are the association’s priorities. All members are encouraged to join ASNT in making this vision a reality: you can read more about the ASNT Strategic Plan?here.
5. Keep Up to Date with Membership Mondays
On the last Monday of each month, ASNT hosts?Membership Mondays. These virtual gatherings give members and prospective members a chance to learn about the benefits and opportunities of ASNT membership, and they are a great way to learn more about the specific ways that ASNT members can get involved and new opportunities to volunteer. Membership Mondays are free to all, but registration is required. You can learn more and sign up for the next?Membership Monday?here.
With so many exciting new programs and opportunities, it’s a great time to be an ASNT volunteer! We are grateful to everyone who makes this work possible—thank you for creating a safer world with us.
