Relationships take work, both to get started and keep going. Finding new places to go can easily fall by the wayside once you get comfortable in your habits. Here are five ideas to try if you're in need for a little inspiration.
1. The Comedy Store (Leicester Square/Piccadilly Circus)

This pillar of the comedy scene has been around for 40 years and sees some truly phenomenal talent come through. The compere, the acts, the heckles, the comebacks all come together to promise a truly hilarious and memorable night, with lots to talk about afterwards. Whether you’re just getting to know each other or know each other like the back of your hands, The Comedy Store comes highly recommended (by me) to create good shared experiences. Three thumbs up.
2. Swingers (Oxford Circus or Bank)

If you prefer something more mobile, you could try Swingers for some indoor crazy golf. The place, first of all, looks great. There is a bar, you can talk as well as focusing on something other than talking, which is nice sometimes on a date. If you’re both competitive you’ll have an especially good time.
3. Prince Charles Cinema (Leicester Square)

Prince Charles Cinema (PCC) is one of the best venues showing not-new films around. It’s certainly easy to get to if you’re going with someone coming from a different part of town. If you like a sing-a-long, PCC has got you covered with screenings of Grease, Dirty Dancing and the more recent ‘The Greatest Showman’. If you want to get into a fandom rabbit hole, look no further than The Room. By reputation, it is the worst film ever made. However, it is also one of the most cherished, with a devoted following. The stars of the film usually make an appearance at the screenings. The James Franco film The Disaster Artist is an adaptation of the book about the filming of the film.
4. Play shuffleboard (Kentish Town, Shoreditch, Finsbury Square)

Note: be prepared to get addicted. Shuffleboard is a great pub game. It’s a bit like curling, the funniest game in the olympics (where you slide your, I don’t know what it’s called, down the ice and someone mops the ice in front of it. The rules are different but the premise is the same. You’ve got London Shuffle in Shoreditch, The Vine in Kentish Town, Burdock in Finsbury Square. Take your pick.
5. Play boardgames (Dalston, Waterloo)

Boardgames have really caught on in the last few years, which is surprising. They’ve always been big in Germany and other European countries. I guess we’re catching up. Draughts, one of the first board game cafes has just relocated from Haggerston to Dalston. It also has a Waterloo branch. Choose wisely, adventurer. Boardgames are not for everyone but can score big bonus points with the right person.
