5 MYTHS ABOUT HIRING A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT

While virtual assistant services have grown in popularity over the past several years, there are still many misconceptions about working with one. Fear of the unknown is understandable. It often happens when trying anything new.??

Here are the five concerns we hear most often, and why these myths shouldn’t hold you back.?

MYTH: HIRING A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT CAN’T BE DONE WITH A SMALL BUDGET.?

Fact: Virtual assistant support is actually perfect for small budgets.?

You can start small to fit lower budgets and grow over time as more funds become available and more needs arise. Hiring a VA on a fractional basis and increasing over time is actually one of the perks! It’s also a budget-friendly starting point, helping you gain freedom from the daily churn tasks that soak up so much time. You’ll see a difference in your days almost immediately.?

MYTH: I SHOULDN’T NEED HELP TO GET EVERYTHING DONE FOR MY BUSINESS.?

Fact: This is one of the most limiting beliefs business owners can have. You need help to grow a business and/orgain freedom in your life, and it’s okay to ask for it.?

No one – no one at all – can do everything themselves without hitting a limit or getting overwhelmed. Getting help is taking care of yourself and your business. By ensuring you are in top form, you can ensure your business is in top form. Plus, with more hands and hours, your business has more chances to grow. The more you can focus on your expertise of the company and its growth and not on the back-office tasks , the more your business will thrive.

MYTH: IT DIDN’T WORK BEFORE SO IT WILL NEVER WORK.?

Fact: Finding the right fit in a virtual assistant is crucial for long-term success.?

It’s not a “one-size-fits-all” situation, just like with any other role of a business. The alignment of daily needs, as well as personality, are paramount.? So, if it didn’t work before, you just need to find a better fit for the role.?

MYTH: I DON’T HAVE TIME TO TRAIN A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT TO SUPPORT ME.?

Fact: You don’t have time not to train someone to support you.?

Doing it all yourself takes up much more time for much longer than taking some time upfront to train someone to manage those tasks for good. You can also go slowly and build over time- start with the top three tasks to train and offload, and when those are up and running, you can add on.?

MYTH: HAVING A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT IS MYSTERIOUS BECAUSE THEY ARE REMOTE AND BEHIND THE SCENES.?

Fact: Virtual assistants often become quite close with their clients and a main part of the teams they work for.?

Virtual assistants are in constant communication, joining meetings and being very present in the day-to-day operations of companies. They build relationships with everyone they work with and become a highly trusted professional that companies rely on each day. Sometimes our clients like to buy their VAs gifts and even meet up in person when possible!

With the clients we’ve worked with, a common sentiment we hear after hiring a virtual assistant is: “I wish I’d done this sooner.”?

It’s understandable to have hesitation bringing someone in to support you and your business because it is a big step, but it’s still very doable and very beneficial.? Sometimes putting off getting support is putting off meeting your personal and business goals. The least you can do for yourself and your business is explore the opportunity that could propel you forward. A great place to start: have a conversation to address any concerns or possible limiting beliefs you have to truly explore if a virtual assistant could be good for you.
