"Any questions for us?"?...Don't say No.

"Any questions for us?"...Don't say No.

When it comes to the end of the interview and you feel fairly happy with your performance, don't get too complacent, as you may just fall at the last hurdle.

After answering what can seem like an eternity of questions, the tables are turned and you get your chance to ask some of your own.

Don't turn this opportunity down.

So you know it's best practice to have a few questions to ask, yet what do you say?

It depends on what was discussed during the interview. This is why even through all those nerves it helps to have a memory like Rain Man, otherwise you many look silly asking things which have already been discussed.

These are just 5 questions which could help you secure your next job.

1. What are the biggest challenges that someone in this position would face?

Don't get sidetracked by the soft, fluffiness. Although you may have been painted a wonderful picture, there will always be challenges. You want to know what you are getting yourself into.

2. What type of person do you see ideally fitting this position?

This will give you an opportunity to potentially cover any experiences or attributes you have which were not covered in the interview.

3. Who will I be working most closely with?

Rarely asked yet, so important. Often you only meet your direct line manager and somebody from Human Resources. Dig up as much information on your team as you can.

4. Is there anything about my background or CV that makes you question whether I am a good fit for this role?

Although it may seem quite direct and putting the interviewer on the spot, it shows you are interested in the job and secondly it allows you to respond directly to any concerns.

5. What’s your favourite part about working here?

This is your chance to build a little more rapport as well as getting a good impression on what it may really be like to work there. If people truly enjoy the company, work and their colleagues you should be able to see this in the way they answer they question.

I did say 5 questions, however it is always good to ask the below question at the very end as a way to wrap everything up and getting insight on what to expect next.

  • What are the next steps in the interview process?

What's your thoughts?

Do you have any other top questions you would ask at the end of an interview?
