Ever walked into an Interview with your confidence intact but got thrown off balance by the first question from the interviewer???
You watch as your confidence is watered down and everything you think you prepared for disappears into thin air.
You keep searching the roof for an answer, but of course, there are no answers there.
You are left to stutter words and just then, you know you don’t stand a chance.
I had a similar experience years ago.
I decided I had gained enough skills in the marketing sector and is fit to apply for jobs.
I submitted several applications but never got a response.????
I had an HR friend who decided to take a second look at my CV.
It was at this point that I realized the reason I never get called back.
My CV needed a revamp and I have been using the same resume to apply for the same job.
She offered to revamp my CV and took me through a session on how to tailor my resume to a specific job application.
I felt confident in my CV again and began my applications again.
I submitted 5 applications that week and luckily got a response and an interview was scheduled.
I got ready to ace the interview but when the first question came in, I was thrown off balance.
I had prepared for this interview, but I didn’t prepare for this question properly.
This is why you have been missing out on jobs that should have been yours because you do not know how to answer these questions the right way.
A great CV help set your feet at the door, but getting the job is solely dependent on how well you answer the questions.
Below are the most popular interview questions and the right response for each:
?? Tell Us About Yourself.
This may seem simple, but many people have a great deal of anxiety dealing with this question.
For most interviewers, this is a great way to break the silence and initiate the first conversation, but most people have a different opinion about this question.
At this point, you don’t even know what to talk about.
Talk about yourself and your family or talk about the skills you have garnered.?
While most interviewers use this question to get you talking at first, what you say is as important as how you say it.
This might be a test of your communication skill, so don’t push it. Try to focus mainly on career-oriented answers: your past experiences, your qualifications, and your ability to solve big problems.?
?? Where Do You See Yourself in Five Years?
This is mostly a test of how innovative you can be.
In all you say, try avoid a vague answer.
Do not say “I don’t know” or anything similar that indicates you have not thought about your future.
I mean, why don’t you know what you want your career to look like in the next five years?
Don’t be unrealistically ambitious and avoid saying anything about your next job outside of the company, or moving to a particular company or competitor.
Rather than focusing on where you want to be physically between now and 5 years, focus on the things you hope to learn from the point of the question and how they can add to your skills.
?? What is Your Greatest Weakness?
This is one question you are most likely to flop at because you might end up shooting yourself in the foot.

Sometimes, it doesn’t come directly. This question can be in the form of “Tell me about a time you failed and what you learned from it”.?
Most people want to answer this question by pointing out a weakness that is a strong line saying; “I work too hard”, please don’t do it!
Instead, focus on smaller, more manageable weaknesses and what you’re doing to address them.?
Here is a good example, “I am awful at estimating how long a project will take me to complete, and that leads me to take on more work than I can handle.
To remedy the problem, I’m currently taking a class with Utiva, an online education platform, to learn ways to better manage my time and my workflow”.
That reminds me, Utiva has prepared a FREE and special master class session with top Tech experts?? to expose you to ‘High in Demand Tech Skills’ where you can begin and build your career in the Tech industry.
This is a must attend webinar, that will take place tomorrow, Saturday November 12th at exactly 11am WAT.

?? Why Should We Hire You?
Now, this is where most people blab.
This is a great opportunity to pitch yourself and anything you might have missed throughout the interview session.
During a job interview, employers ask a variety of questions to determine if you’re a good cultural fit for the company, if you’ll be successful in the role, and how you’ll contribute to their short- and long-term business goals.
You can look for a prevalent problem about the role and pitch in ways you intend to bring your skills and expertise to solve them.
It differentiates you and sets you apart from other candidates they may be interviewing for the job.
In other words, what would the employer gain by hiring you specifically over other interviewees?
?? Do You Have Any Questions For Me?
This is where to show the interviewer that you best understand the role and are a good fit for it.
This is where you show your interest in the role and as questions as though you have gotten the job.
You can ask questions about the team itself: Who leads it; what does an average day look like; why did the person in the position you’re applying for leave??
You can as well ask for a tour of the workspace and an introduction to some of your future colleagues.
This can be extra I know but it is a way of showing that you are genuinely interested in the role. Do not also forget about salary negotiation too.
Conclusion:
You need to stop seeing interviews though you are going to face horrible people who may be seeking an opportunity to rid you of a job;
Rather, see interviews as an opportunity to sell yourself to the right people.
One skill necessary to successfully ace an interview is your ability to search the internet for relevant questions and how best to answer them.
Endeavour to examine the information on your CV and LinkedIn page; you should expect questions there too, which is another reason why you should have these marketing tools optimised.
