5 Major Reasons Why You are not Getting Jobs and Gigs on Linkedin

5 Major Reasons Why You are not Getting Jobs and Gigs on Linkedin

A student of mine got about five job interviews in three days this week

He has been getting several offers after implementing my teachings on LinkedIn Optimization and he also revamped his CV which catches recruiter's attention whenever he applies for job

I've gotten a lot of DMs from people telling me they've been on LinkedIn for a long time yet they don't have anything to show for it, not even a gig

That's so sad

You can imagine the money, time and effort spent online yet you have nothing to show for it?

I've decided to share the top five reasons why you are yet to land that dream job of yours, and even get gigs related to your services and skills

1. You have the wrong mindset about how Linkedin works;

Firstly, you need to change that mentality that once you create a Linkedin account, jobs will start chasing you.

My dear, it doesn't happen like that except by God's intervention

You can imagine being told that whenever you are hungry, just say what you want to eat, and the food will appear. Does it work like that?

Hell No?

It's either you order the food you want online which is much easier or you prepare the food yourself. You go through the work to get the desired result?

Same with Linkedin, you don't just create an account and expect miracles to happen. There is what to do to achieve your desired result ??

2. Your Profile is Wack:?

You want to land your dream job but your profile looks like an unserious jobseeker, chai??

Some people don't even have anything written on their headline. what do you expect recruiters to do when your profile is not projecting anything. You get nothing!

That's why I keep shouting it here that people should get their profile optimized. It's for your benefit, trust me??

I'm glad 80% of my students are making it big in this space and I know the sky is their starting point??. The other 20% are probably new students or those not taking actions

3. You keep making a job request post:

Let me ask you a question;

Is it possible to give birth to a baby without going through a pregnancy period?

Even Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ went through the pregnancy period before she gave birth to Jesus

But some jobseekers here wants the baby without going through the pregnancy period

My dear, you don't just make a job request post. It's not by consistent sharing of "I am looking for a job" here and there.

It's by consistent sharing of your values and the skills you possess

As a Jobseeker,?

What values can you add to Organisations?

What skills do you have that will boost your profile and make you the preferred choice?

What experience (s) do you have??

Do you have any volunteering experience?

Have you undergone an internship?

No Organization wants a liability

And let me tell you this to balance my statement; it's possible to get an offer with zero experience but while waiting for that perfect job, do something to build yourself.

You can volunteer for Organisations, get internship offers, learn a skill or get involved in SDGs

4. Your profile doesn't contain relevant keywords:?

This is what a HR said one time;

When recruiters use Linkedin to search for people, they do searches based upon keywords their clients use to identify someone.?

Your job title in your profile is not one that matches the Linkedin data dictionary.?

If a recruiter uses the title field as part of their search, and your title is not compliant with the LinkedIn data dictionary, you are invisible.

What you are selling is not something that companies are buying and paying a fee for. Recruiters do not do social work. They are paid by companies to locate talent with specific expertise, that is located in a particular area who they hire and who remains in their employ for a certain amount of time.?

Their job is not to find you a job. If what you have to sell is not what their clients are buying (entry level, for example), you will not be contacted.

5. Your CV or Resume is not good:?

This part is what most people don't want to hear and it's one of the important keys to getting a job and even gigs. If you notice that you don't get contacted for interviews and you've been sending out applications overtime, it's time to take a look at your CV or Resume.

Ask yourself;

- Is my CV well arranged and formatted?

- Do I have the right contents in my CV?

- Is my CV a professional standard one?

- Am I sending out the right cover letter?

Be honest with yourself this time and stop looking for short cut and freebies

Only those who paid the price gets the glory

A word is enough ??

I hope this helps someone out there
