5 Life-Changing Lessons From Dad

5 Life-Changing Lessons From Dad

I can never repay my parents for all that they have done for me.

The sacrifices they have made for me have laid the foundation for the hundreds of thousands of people that I have been able to touch in my life.

My parents are, hands-down, one of my biggest unfair advantages.

5 LIFE-CHANGING LESSONS FROM DAD

  1. Plan tomorrow, today
  2. Energy is contagious
  3. Traditions are powerful
  4. Routines drive Results
  5. Beacon of Possibility

1: PLAN TOMORROW, TODAY

I remember my Dad's "diary" vividly. It was a beautiful bound book with ruled paper. Nothing else. He would sit down everyday and plan his day. I remember him writing the date on top of the page and a bullet list of things that needed to get done the night before. He would wake up the next day, "top off" the list with any additional thoughts and then attack the commitments that he made to himself.

Plan tomorrow... today. Watch your productivity and impact skyrocket.

2: ENERGY IS CONTAGIOUS

I remember going to social gatherings and dinner parties with my Dad and he would just bring so much energy and enthusiasm to the meeting. Just by walking in the room he would light people up. I remember looking around and people would crack a smile and a warm embrace without even saying a word.

Don't doubt for one second what your energy and enthusiasm can do for a room, for your community, and for your family. Brings the heat every time because it is under your control.

3: TRADITIONS ARE POWERFUL

Over the generations, my Dad's family was responsible for the growth and development of a little village in India. They were a well respected family in the village and played a vital role in everything from the temples to the community. Let's just say you can drop my family name there and you are considered royalty.

But my Dad never took that for granted.

I don't know what is left of that village. But my Dad believed in keeping up his family's commitment to the community. He would take me there as a child. Teach me the history. Show me the sites. And introduce me to the elders. All just like his family had done for him.

My Dad always used to say... "It's important to know where you come from... as your knowing past makes your stronger to build your future" (paraphrased of course... but thats how I remember it).

4: ROUTINES DRIVE RESULTS

Everyone talks about having "millionaire routines"... I had a PhD in it growing up just watching my Dad's daily discipline. He would wake up early every single day and workout. He ran the same routine every morning from the time he woke up to the time he left the house, to the evening and to bed.

Now if that seems boring and structured to you, let me give you a little insight into all of this because he is a great Dad, a loving husband, a successful entrepreneur who built everything from nothing, and deeply loyal to his friends and family.

I believe my Dad's energy, mental acuity as an entrepreneur, stability as a husband and father, spirituality, health and business success came from his intentionally crafted routine. And the best part is, he would include me in parts of it but he never forced it upon me, my Mom or my family.

My Dad did what my Dad did because I secretly believe that he knew that it was his routines that would drive results.

5: BEACON OF POSSIBILITY

Above all, I owe my Dad big time for installing the ultimate belief system in me.

He taught me every single day to believe in a bigger and better future and that I have the power to make it so.

My Dad taught me that anything was possible.

While that may seem whacky and woo-woo, having that as a baseline belief system growing up is what has made me who I am today. And it is going to be the driving force of everything that I accomplish in the years to come.

It is that belief system that drives all belief systems.

Because once you believe in the power of what is possible, it activates every other belief system in your life.

My Dad was, is, and will always be the Beacon of Possibility in my life.
