5 Lessons in my Solopreneurship Journey

My wife hated me when I started my Solopreneurship journey.
She wanted me to be safe and continue my corporate career. But I wanted to experiment.
I wanted to know if I am capable to make money using my skills, knowledge and experience.
I was excited to use LinkedIn as a tool to showcase my Coaching and Mentoring capabilities.
If you are confused and unsure, remember, the most important validation always comes from yourself, not from others, even your own family would disown some of your career decisions, if not all!
Initially, I felt lost because I was new, and was spoiled with a monthly pay coming into my bank. But that discomfort pushed me to dig deeper into my own path.
I learned a powerful lesson: the beauty of not being accepted is that you learn to accept yourself.
As a solopreneur, this is essential. You can’t rely on others to define your worth or your journey. Only you can do that.
Many successful entrepreneurs I know made bold moves. They left behind high-paying jobs, even when it didn’t make sense to others. They weren’t afraid to start fresh, bringing their experience and a LinkedIn account along for the ride. I took that leap at 55, and I’ve never looked back.
5 Key Traits for Solopreneurs
1. Clear Vision
You need to know where you’re going and communicate that vision to others. People should feel your excitement and believe in your dream.
2. Self-Discipline

No one will be telling you what to do. You must push yourself to take action every single day.
3. Patience for Results
Success won’t come quickly. Be ready to trade quick wins for long-term gains.
4. Smart Risk-Taking
Solopreneurs don’t shy away from risks. They see opportunities where others see challenges.
5. Ability to Adapt
The business world changes constantly. If you’re flexible, you’ll thrive, no matter what.
If these traits sound familiar, solopreneurship might be the perfect fit for you.
Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
One big trap many fall into is comparing themselves to others. In solopreneurship, this is a waste of time. Focus on your strengths and your journey. You are your own brand, so build it based on your unique experience and skills.
