Mentoring can widen your business networks, which can help you identify new opportunities, ideas and innovative solutions for your business. I came across an article that talks about the 5 lessons you can learn from a mentor and mentee. Here are a few snippets that you might find interesting.
Mentoring is a journey that never stops, whatever stage you're at with your business. Mentoring really is a two-way street. Here are five lessons you can learn both from being mentored, and from acting as mentors.
#1 Don't be afraid of failure.
Mentoring has taught us that failure is a natural part of the entrepreneurial process and that each failure builds upon a future success.
#2 Be true to your values.
Mentoring has empowered us to live life boldly on our own terms, not the norms that society often wants us to conform to. This has led to greater confidence as leaders, skills development in building and directing teams to work in harmony and the power of persevering even when times get tough.
#3 You're never too experienced for a mentor.
You will find tremendous value in having mentors as well as being mentors for young entrepreneurs and creative activists.
#4 Use your network.
When you face challenges, feel discouraged or are told by your peers that something is not possible, rely on lessons taught to you by mentors and their own prior struggles and leverage that wisdom to stay determined, hyper-focusing and persevering through.
#5 Going your own way.
The largest impact has come from feeling empowered to think differently, innovate differently, and thus redefine the notions of entrepreneurship and expand the definition of social entrepreneurship the best way you see fit.
