5 Lessons on Innovation: Transformation Myth (Episode #1)
Dear Innovators,
Welcome to my very first newsletter here on LinkedIn. I’m eager to share my personal, curated knowledge about innovation. Over the past years I’ve talked to many innovation leaders on a daily basis and truly understood the challenges corporates face, mostly through our work at Stryber - where it’s all about making corporate innovation succeed in the long run.
To kick it off I’d like to introduce you to a short video series I’ve been working on, called “5 Lessons on Innovation”. The main question I will answer within the series is the following:
How can organisations ensure long term growth in times of disruption?
Turns out I've already spent a lot of time thinking about it. Throughout my career in the corporate world I have both made and avoided many mistakes.
Eleanor Roosevelt puts it the following way: "Learn from the mistakes of others. You can't live long enough to make them all yourself".
I couldn't agree more. Therefore I have curated my personal knowledge within "5 Lessons on Innovation" to help you learn from the most common mistakes and get hold of innovation strategies that actually work.
Without further ado, here comes lesson #1 Transformation Myth: Accept that business models have expiry dates:
Adding a few more details about company expiry dates: In 1980 the lifespan of a S&P500 company was 37 years on average - in 2022 we estimate it's just 17 years. That’s less than half and proves the point: Businesses do have expiry dates. Ways to mitigate this are constant innovation efforts that create new, innovative business models to become future-proof.
Stay tuned for the upcoming episodes released within this newsletter on a weekly basis:
