5 Lessons I Learned by Losing Everything (Twice) in My Business

Hey Dadpreneurs,

Business is not always fun.

Life is not always easy.

I wanted to share some lessons I learned in the process of losing everything twice in my life and business.

The morning my second son was born, I was not smiling ear to ear. I faced a different reality than what I had expected.

My bank account showed a balance of just $227, not nearly enough to support my expanding family. The paycheck I had been counting on never arrived; the company I worked for had collapsed overnight. (I was an independent contractor) All the money, all the promises of stability, vanished in an instant.

I was left with nothing—no job, no business, and two children and a wife depending on me. I didn't know how we'd make it, in this picture I fell asleep with my newborn, overwhelmed with the burden of uncertainty.

In the face of overwhelming uncertainty, I made a vow to myself and my family: I would rebuild from scratch... with the help of others and God.

No path was too daunting, no effort too great if it meant securing a future for my loved ones.

This journey from the brink of despair for a 2nd time in as many years, to where I stand today, taught me invaluable lessons about resilience, faith, and the unyielding power of a determination.

Here are five lessons from my journey:

1. Resourcefulness Over Resources: I learned to make the most of what I had, turning limitations into creative solutions that kept us moving forward.

2. Faith Amid Fear: In my darkest moments, faith provided a beacon of hope, a reminder that our current circumstances didn't dictate our future possibilities.

3. The Strength of Vulnerability: Admitting I needed help wasn't a sign of weakness but a step towards building a community & family that lifted us up when we were most vulnerable.

4. The Value of Perseverance: Every setback was a lesson in persistence, teaching me that the path to success is often paved with trials and determination.

5. Gratitude for Every Moment: This journey taught me to find joy in the small victories, the quiet moments with my family, and the progress we made each day.

To those feeling overwhelmed by the challenges of building or rebuilding, know that you're not alone. Your current situation is not your final destination.

If you are in a tough spot or just frustrated with lack of progress, DM me and let me know.

I'd love to discuss what you are facing.

Chris Stanley love the resourcefulness part. That, and having faith. I feel faith is something a lot of us nowadays don't pay attention to. I know when I came back to it, things got a lot better. I still need to work at it, but it's much better than before. God bless you, brother ??

Agree, Chris Stanley - almost all of our lessons come from failures and setbacks. Success hardly makes us take lessons to heart.
