5 lessons I have learnt from deleteing the facebook app and spending around 80% less time on the platform.
You may have seen that Facebook just announced a drop in usage.
I am one of those people
From being on facebook, in some form or another, pretty much 24/7 to now being on it "properly" for around 1 hour per day - give or take.
So firstly why?
The why is a super easy one for me, I wasn't enjoying the platform and most importantly I was allowing it to be more to be than it needed to be.
I found myself comparing myself to others and then beating myself up for whatever reason... even though I knew for a fact those I was comparing myself to were not doing as well as they say...
It just didn't sit with me.
So I started by just deleting the app, simple right? Yeah until you think "oh ill quickly go on the browser"
It was a habit that I needed to break, it was no longer serving me.
Now, in basic terms... I get more shit done and I am happier
But it is also more than that, it has allowed me to focus on reaching my ideal clients more and also shaken me into more action.
Its so easy being busy on facebook... am I right?
Here are my top 5 things I personally learnt;
1. The more time you spend on facebook, the less time you are spending on your business - but you may feel like it is helping your business... chances are it is not
2. Sheep follow sheep - Fb is full of people just following the same people in the same circles selling the same thing... with no real power or change happening. Don't be a sheep
3. "social" media is the least social thing you can do for yourself, It does more harm that you may be aware. Be careful how much time you are spending online and start spending more time offline, with those you love.
4. Don't believe the hype - coaches, consultants, trainers, fitness pros, etc etc facebook is full of them. My guess is that 80% of them are not walking the walk, 10% of them have no expenses (aka living with folks still etc) and the other 10% are creating what they are saying (that last 10% are probably the ones you may see the least)
5. Focus on you - it is so easy to get caught up in the hype that is facebook, Linkedin and whatever else you may be on. It is easy to forget why you started doing what you are doing. Focus on your own journey, your wins and learn from the not so winning days. It is easy to get caught up in a life that is not yours and you wake up and see that you aren't living your own life.
So there we go, my 5 learnings from adjusting my time on facebook.
