5 Key Marketing Predictions that can Make or Break Your 2025

The marketing landscape just hit another inflection point. With OpenAI's December 9th release of Sora to the public, and Klarna's recent announcement of completely halting human hiring in favor of AI, we're watching the 2025 predictions materialize before year's end - and AI is not needed to see what’s coming. This isn't just another year-end forecast – it's a data-backed analysis of transformations already in motion. While some companies have used AI to see unprecedented wins ($5MM in monthly retention revenue through predictive analytics and AI messaging), others are learning hard lessons about AI's use (just ask Coca-Cola about their AI-generated holiday commercial). Here are five critical predictions I believe will occur in 2025.

1. Super-Mega-Hyper-Personalized Campaigns?
Personalization has been going on in some form since the late 90s using gamified surveys and quizzes. As time has passed, with faster processors, lax regulations,? increasingly capable software and lessons learned, personalization has reached an uncanny valley level of applications. We know for some time now, Netflix uses AI algorithms to recommend content based on viewing history and ratings. Similarly, Amazon personalizes product recommendations (and prices) for each shopper, increasing customer loyalty and sales. By 2025, such hyper-personalization will hit new levels and extend into real-time marketing, allowing brands to adapt ads and messaging dynamically based on live customer behavior. Tools like Hybris marketing can already locate where you are via your phone GPS and send you a promotion for a store you’re about to pass via SMS or email, and in some instances on digital signage. Expect more of this - not quite Minority Report level - but we’re on that path.??
AI will continue to enable marketers to craft highly personalized advertisements by analyzing vast consumer data, enhancing engagement and conversion rates using algorithms that can match your preferences and untaken actions with those who are like you where data shows you’re likely to take an action with a particular product or services they’ve been happy with.?
2. AI-Generated Content
The use of AI in creating marketing content will continue to become more mainstream, allowing for rapid production of tailored messages across various platforms. What’s slowly becoming more prominently known by those who are early adopters with AI generated content - is it’s milquetoast.? Note the recent Coca Cola holiday commercial which got that exact feedback by those who saw it and love the brand. We’ll see companies continue to jump on the bandwagon and use AI generated content with the somewhat false promise it lowers costs while increasing the volume of content.? In most instances, it will prove to be ineffective in driving results and will require multiple rounds that prior human expertise would have experience with and AI doesn't yet capture. This will lead to a modification of AI-Assisted Content, with human oversight which will allow for content to differentiate itself and tailor itself to the business needs. ?
3. AIgentic Customer Service
AI-driven chatbots and virtual assistants will handle a majority of customer interactions, with the belief it can providing efficient and personalized support. There are several case studies that show this to be true. Companies like Sephora and H&M already employ AI chatbots to assist customers with product recommendations and troubleshooting. AI-powered assistants, like those used by American Express, streamline customer support while maintaining a personal touch. By 2025, this trend will evolve, with bots resolving most queries and only complex issues being escalated to humans. If you’ve not yet heard of AI Generated Agents now becoming Agentic AI, it means there’s now an actual split occurring in how AI will be developed and used and Klarna appears to be making it work in spades.? Last year they fired 700 people, and reported their AI customer service application could do the job of 700 people.? Last week they announced, they stopped hiring entirely last year to replace workers with AI. This will become a more common trend in 2025, especially where it’s seen to work in reducing costs without reducing service.

4. Predictive Analytics
Marketers will increasingly rely on AI to predict consumer behavior, optimizing strategies and improving ROI. There are several basic algorithms that can be very powerful in making this happen such as KNN (K Nearest Neighbor) and? K-Means which I’ve used to build with the teams I’ve worked with and led to predict for businesses which of their customers would make their last purchase ever? in the next 30 days, what the needed attention an agent should pursue and say to them to keep them active. This led to accurately measured retention for clients high as 9% of those who were predicted to churn and provided one business nearly 5MM in monthly retention revenue.? The algorithms being used to day have advanced greatly as have some of the tools available. Expect to get perfectly timed messaging based on integrated analytics which trigger events like SMS, email and even videos. ?
5. Visual and Voice Content Creation:
AI tools will facilitate the creation of visual and voice content, enabling more dynamic and engaging marketing materials. Suno just released V 4.0 of their song generator and the music, while not perfect, can be quite compelling with well written prompts. OpenAI’s Sora is now publicly available to paying users, and there’s flood of competition in the works.? 2025 is going to open currently shut doors for content creators by increasing the speed of delivery and lowering the costs to create. A win-win for everyone, except traditional media players.? Movie studios, television networks, magazine and newspaper publishers have all seen consolidation over the last decade or so. They’re not the only content creators who will be affected.? I’m going to predict large ad agencies will consolidate and/or shrink as in house marketing teams? and smaller agencies will be able to deliver compelling content? very quickly. ?
6. Bonus: Altered SEO Strategies
AI will enhance search engine optimization by analyzing search patterns and suggesting optimal content strategies and it will be able to integrate specific cohorts to target based on predicted high value insights (back to the predictive analytics). There are two things to be shooting for now with SEO - getting listed in the AI summaries and the old school getting to page 1 on general search.
These predictions are based on data, hands-on experience, and direct observation of market shifts happening right now. Want to stay ahead of these transformations? Next week, I'lll share the 5 largest roadblocks and challenges AI will see in 2025 including Regulatory Compliance:which? could mean nothing, but it also could mean Black Mirror’s metalhead becomes a reality.

2 个月Very interesting. I caught the Coca Cola ad while watching tv with the family. I was surprised that both of my teenage daughters complained about the bad AI.
