Hello and welcome to the last edition of Cut the BS for 2023! ??
It has been a year of recovery and immense change: economies have, so far, avoided a recession, and many companies are beginning to turn their focus back towards growth.
With growth comes hiring and with hiring comes growth, so – what will hiring look like in 2024?
Below we break down 5 key hiring trends for the coming year. All of them, we hope, will take employers closer to cutting the bias and stress out of their hiring processes.
Adoption of skills-based hiring set to increase ??
The adoption of skills-based hiring has been increasing year on year since its inception; our data shows that 73% of employers are using skills-based hiring in 2023, an increase of 17% from 2022.
Our survey data also shows that:?
With these figures in hand, it’s safe to say that skills-based hiring usage will increase even more in 2024.
Soft skills will be imperative to hire for ??
91% of employers told us this year that soft skills are more important than they were 5 years ago – up from 74% in 2022.
You’ve heard it all before, but now’s the time to listen: soft skills are more important than ever, and they really will be imperative to hire for in 2024.
An overwhelming majority of the employers we surveyed in 2023 agree that they’re more important than they were 5 years ago, and 2024 is the year to double down on them for good.

DE&I will be an objective for every organization??
85% of employers reported that diversity is an objective for them in 2023.
This is up from 77% in 2022. Since awareness of social justice and the need for DE&I in the workplace is steadily rising, we predict that every organization will have some form of DE&I objective in 2024.?
What does this mean for hiring?
In short, we expect that more and more companies will begin to think of their hiring processes as a part of their DE&I initiatives.
This means using hiring tools and strategies that promote equality of opportunity, and it might look like:
Crucially, a move towards hiring for skills, rather than education or experience, will also support DE&I objectives in 2024.

Finally – and probably least surprisingly – employers can expect even more new and disruptive tech in 2024.?
