I have personally witnessed the damage that young people have done to themselves and their young athletic careers not knowing the specific laws around the use of their phones and social media. We, as the adults in their lives, must have uncomfortable conversations to break down complex issues that they need to understand. The legal system, intimate images, and information sharing must be addressed before something bad happens. Ignorance is NOT bliss.
Here are five specific points you can use when talking to student-athletes and all teenagers about the potential trouble they could face with their smartphones and social media:
1. "Sexting can lead to serious legal trouble—even if it's consensual."
2. "Once you post something online, it's out there forever."
3. "Cyberbullying can result in criminal charges."
4. "Be careful who you talk to online—strangers aren't always who they say they are."
5. "Sharing intimate photos without consent can ruin lives—and it's illegal."

2 个月I would add on for students (over 16) to BE active on LinkedIn (I do training on this on a regular basis). It's where you can show your skills and build your personal brand.
