A client recently hired me to check out all his facebook ad campaigns and re do them if needed to.
Was expecting a couple things to adjust nothing major, they said they had a decent amount of experience with running campaigns.
It was a disaster, from the ad copy, headline, and add photo. This was all the front of the campaign, we’re not going to get to the back end just yet.
But here’s a spoiler they weren’t using a pixel which is a double negative in my book.
Conversion Improvement #1 Ad Copy
When you’re creating an ad copy i understand you want to hit all the perks of what you're offering. But pretend you’re speaking to me in person and you just start telling me everything you offer right away.
I’m going to look at you crazy because you didn’t build rapport with me or tried to qualify me. You didn’t relate with me on any pain, it was all about you.
Qualify your ideal customer
[+] Build rapport with them, you know how it feels to be in there position without what you’re offering
[+] Don’t sell on your product on the ad. We have another place to do that.
[+] Qualify the customer by using pain points.
Conversion Improvement #2 Headlines
Headlines, this is what will catch your customer's eye. If you're creating an ad and it has a special offer you better believe to put that there! This should be a no brainer, it may be simple but it’s like baking a cake if you don’t use the egg the cake is going to fall apart. All these pieces work together when you’re building an ad.
Conversion Improvement #3 Photo
The ad photo can vary. What I mean is to be creative, this as well will help with catching your customer's eye. It pays to stand out of the crowd. I always split test this part of the ad as well a couple other factors.
For a dealership I split test 2 photos. A dog driving a car with his other dog friends in the car. The second photo was a girl jumping in front of a car she just purchased from a dealership. Can you guess which one made the cut? The Dog!
Conversion Improvement #4 Urgency
I bet you’re not doing this! Urgency is such a powerful factor in human psychology. Giving a deadline and setting the fear of missing out, causing the customer to feel they should take action of it now!
Conversion Improvement #5 Visual
If you’re a offering a product or unique service, demonstrate your product or service in action. We all absorb information differently So do yourself the favor and cater to all learners.
Conversion Improvement #6 Retarget
Last but surely it’s not least, i’ll say it’s one of the more important steps. In sales, majority of the time sales happen on the follow up. Plus your customers are checking facebook on their mobile device at work, school, in the gym, food shopping etc you get the point. They're not 100% engaging at the moment, but if they click on your ad and happen to exit out of the app without realizing. You can hit them again with another ad.
None of these steps are out of the ordinary, it’s just the basics when it comes to marketing. But it’s easy to forget so it doesn’t happen. Always stick to the basics that’s usually the stuff that works.
Hope this helped!
