5 in 5 with Hugo Louren?o

This is the first in a new series highlighting the trainers of Radtac. Get to know our training team as we learn more about who they are – both in the training room and beyond! We start this series by catching up with Hugo Louren?o – CEO of Radtac Portugal and an active Agile trainer.

1. What was your first job?

Hugo: “My first job was as a lifeguard when I was 14 years old. I always loved swimming as a kid and wanted to help and support others with this responsibility. Since then, I’ve been a Lieutenant in the Navy, Electrical Engineer, Project Manager, Professor, Entrepreneur and of course an Agile trainer.”

2. What’s important about training to you?

Hugo: “I think it’s really important to sell the dream AND to make sure it’s really possible. In other words – I think it’s important to balance both agile training and consultancy. I want people to leave the training knowing what’s really possible and how to deal with things when they go wrong. It’s both the strategy and the tactics that help people succeed back in their work.”

3. What do you do for fun when you’re not training?

Hugo: “I have two hobbies. The sea and velocity.  I love anything to do with the sea – scuba, surfing, sailing. And I love anything where I can go fast. I’ve been known to take my motorcycle 50 miles to get a loaf of bread.”

4. What’s your favourite course to teach?

Hugo: “I don’t have one! I think it’s important for people to take a training course that will make a difference for them. Our Cynefin course helps people understand where they are and which transitions are important. Our Kanban courses help teams visualise where they are and improve their decisions. Scrum catalyses teams, and DevOps breaks down the silos between the Business, Development and Ops – giving them an opportunity to be creative and work together out of the box.”

5. What else should we know?

Hugo: “We are already busy planning the Fifth Annual eXperience Agile Conference and the World Agility Forum returning to Lisbon on 30 September – 1 October 2019. Save the date for an action-packed event filled with a diverse lineup of speakers, excellent networking, and new agile connections! Reserve your spot in the Agile sun here.”

With over 300 days of sun each year – Portugal is the perfect destination for your next training course (and more!).  Check out our Radtac courses scheduled in Portugal here!
