We all live for happiness and that should be the ultimate goal for every one of us. It would make our life more meaningful and worth living. For entrepreneurs, this can be one of the factors that can lead to the success of their venture.
Happiness is the only goal worth pursuing†– Paulo Cohelo
Happiness is something that can be achieved over a period of time by practicing the right habits and little commitment by our side. So, what are the habits that will help you stay happy, at least most of the times.
Stay positive and be surrounded by positivity:
Firstly, always think positive, be solution oriented and maintain a positive work environment. Pessimism is trouble because it is bad for your health. Numerous studies have proven that people who think positive are physically and psychologically healthier than those who don’t.
Business is always surrounded with risks and challenges, however, it is the positive attitude that will provide you the strength to combat. Always choose the people whom you want to be with. Strive to be with people who make you feel great and provide you the right support.
2. Plan your day well:
We start every day knowing that we’re not going to get it all done. So how do we plan our day is a key strategic decision.
Practicing certain morning rituals and routines can help you to discipline yourself to do a certain necessary task each day. It can make you feel more centered, energized, and ready to tackle the day.
Shashank ND – Co-founder and CEO Practo says- For me hitting the gym is like medicine. I have to hit the gym for an hour in the morning and try to do at least five to 10 km on the treadmill in the mornings. Also, I try getting a quick swim or a game of squash before hitting the gym, but both a gym and a swim or squash isn’t easy.
This is what my morning ritual looks like
- Get up at around 6 am and I drink a large glass of room temperature water with fresh lemon juice, rock salt, and honey to hydrate me.
- Do some breathing exercises and meditate for 15 minutes.
- Followed by a Bulletproof coffee or a protein shake.
- I then help my son get ready for school.
- Then I either exercise using a rebounder for 15 minutes or lift weights for 30 minutes. I alternate between cardio and weights.
- I start my workday by 9 am and focus on the most important task for my business for the first 90 minutes.
The above morning ritual has helped me automate success! Success is a result of habits.
3) Set your goals and strive to achieve each day:
Set lot of short-term goals that motivate you and work towards achieving it each day. Your goals are what makes your life more meaningful and worth cherishing. Goal setting not only allows you to take control of your life’s direction; it also provides you a benchmark for determining whether you are actually succeeding.
Eventually, all your short-term goals should aim at achieving your “long-term goalsâ€.
Set SMART goals
Specific: Be clear in what you want to achieve. Set goals that help you give direction and way.
Measurable: Specify a date and time for your goal. You might just wander for years with the same goals if they are not measurable.
Attainable: Set goals that are realistic and possible to achieve.Setting a goal that has no hope of achieving will only demotivate yourself and erode your self-confidence.
Relevant: The goals should align with your life and your career.
Time-Bound: Set timelines to your goals, this will motivate you to achieve it and celebrate the success.
Let’s see how to pursue important and meaningful goals.
4) Make time for family and friends:
We are caught up so much into work that we ignore the importance of the people around us. Setting aside time for your family and friends will ease out the long day’s stress. They act as a fuel and provide you the support that will help you get over with the most difficult challenges ahead of you.
Having a happy family can help entrepreneurs become more successful. It’s my connection to my family that gives me the ability to thrive as an entrepreneur. I consciously set aside times in the week to play with my son and also be with my wife. I leave either a Friday or Saturday to catch up with friends. On Sunday afternoons I catch up with family members that stay overseas. This has strengthened my relationships, giving my life balance and helped me stay rejuvenated in my business.
5) Learn to delegate:
Doing everything alone can be stressful. As an entrepreneur, you need to learn to delegate effectively. Taking assistance from people around you will ease out the frustration and help you meet the deadlines.Learn the art of delegation with these 7 steps.
