5 Habits for Beating the Weight-Loss Woes

I coach a successful weight-loss group and I keep doing it for two reasons;

  1. It is so satisfying to see people turn a frustrating situation into an empowered one
  2. I need the motivation and accountability in order to keep my own weight in check.

Weight-loss is so simple it is hard.?I find that it gets complicated because of the complicated advice available and because of our habit as humans to complicate things.

I would like to share with you the top five tips that have helped hundreds of people I have worked with including myself to lose weight and keep it off.

Are you ready?

1. LOVE & ACCEPT YOURSELF AS YOU ARE TODAY.?It is imperative that you love and accept yourself today! SO often we are waiting to look a certain way to love and accept ourselves.?This is the quickest way to lose at weight-loss.?

When you love yourself now just the way we are it makes room for making healthy choices.??When you do not accept yourself it is upsetting and often leads to making choices out of alignment with your best interest.

2. FOCUS ON ADDING IN HEALTHY HABITS.??Instead of focusing on what you can't do, focus on healthy habits and add them in one at a time once a week.?When we focus on adding in it removes bad habits without all of the drama.

3.?SMALL AND CONSISTENT CHANGES BEAT OUT LARGE INCONSISTENT CHANGES.?The number one reason I see people losing at the weight-loss game is setting large romantic goals instead of focusing and small daily changes kept consistently.?Small changes maintained consistently for long periods of time create big changes in the end.?

As humans, we have a tendency to want to go big in the beginning, for example, to work out every day for an hour and eat only 1000 calories to lose a ton of weight within a couple of weeks.?

It is painful to watch this happen people go in gung ho then after a few days or even a week of maintaining this brutal schedule they quit then often revert to worse habits than before.

Make small changes one at a time until they become habits and trust that?100 small changes lead to one big change in the end.

4.?KEEP IT SIMPLE.?Eat real food consisting of mostly vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats.??Don't eat too much or too little.?Drink water, at least half your weight in ounces.

5.?MAKE MOVEMENT YOUR LIFESTYLE. Movement needs to become the way you do business.?Each day find ways to move more.?Walk your pets, play with your children, dance to a song or two whenever you can, take the stairs, park further away, take stretch breaks, do squats throughout the day, find an exercise you love!?Movement is absolutely necessary, and it is important to do it daily.?Set an intention to add more movement each week to your day.?
