Many of you like to write blogs and some may even want to establish career in blog writing. It is a healthy choice to write blogs as you can easily represent your thoughts into words and share plethora of knowledge with the audience. Moreover, it creates an impression that you are an expert of the particular field.
Imagine people reading your blogs every now & then; and following you on various platforms, eager to meet you personally or honoring your ample knowledge. It's easy to imagine and much easier to turn it into a reality. At the same time, you can also imagine your blog not being read by anyone and you are continuously striving to write your best content.
Either of the situations can turn true but controllable by you. How? Let me answer this to you. There are millions of articles/blogs written every day and zillions available on internet while the reader is not sure which one to read. He only reads what he finds interesting by reading the topic. If the topic is worthy, he will read the further content else fully ignore it. My last article talked about writing a blog in 60 minutes. Now I am focusing on choosing the right topic for your blog. Read the tips below to learn how to choose the right topic for your blog:
- Choose your niche - We often try to write about hot topics of the industry which is fairly good but not the best. If you wish to write and succeed for long term, choose your expertise and write about it. Never think of writing a topic you are not aware; else it can backfire due to lack of in depth knowledge.
- Decide your target audience - Many bloggers fail because they think they know everything and think that once they start writing, they will become highly recognized but they forget to choose the audience for their blog. It is extremely necessary to write blog for a segmented audience for two reasons: a) you will be considered as expert in the domain, b) possibility of succeeding increases as the blog is meant for right audience, not everyone.
- Make it unique - You need to research more to find interesting facts about the topic and select the unique content for your blog. e.g. writing about library management is very common but if you write about use of technology to improve efficiency of a librarian, it can be interesting as well as unique.
- Find related keywords - Once you are clear about topic of your blog, your job is not over. You need to find related keywords to be included in the title to make it catchy and SEO friendly. You may use websites to find synonyms and keywords for your blog title.
- Easy to pronounce - Your blog topic/title should be very clear and easy to pronounce or it will confuse the reader resulting in negative impression. The best way to keep your topic readable is using short words (7 letters or less in each word).
Hope these ideas will help you to choose write topic for your blog and you will succeed in writing your blog. If you need more support, feel free to connect.
