5 Googlers Worth Following

Man, I love doing these. List #4 of 5 Googlers Worth Googling. Let me know who I missed...

1)Vint Cerf, VP, Chief Internet Evangelist (@vgcerf)?

His Twitter profile pretty much sums it up: "Widely known as one of the "Fathers of the Internet," Vint Cerf is the co-designer of the TCP/IP protocols and the architecture of the Internet." His Wikipedia bio page (yes, he has a Wikipedia page) also notes "He has received honorary degrees and awards that include the National Medal of Technology, the Turing Award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Marconi Prize and membership in the National Academy of Engineering." There are so many interviews and videos of this incredible storyteller; however, one of my favorites is a talk Vint gave to The Royal Institution titled "Will Computers Ever Think Like Human Beings". He's a legend and a hero of mine.

2) Dr. Cassie Kozyrkov?Chief Decision Scientist.?(@quaesita)

The ability to translate deep technical content into layman's terminology is a gift as a storyteller. Vint Cerf obviously has this gift. And so does Dr. Cassie Kozyrkov. Yes, she also has a Wikipedia page like Vint. Yes, she is a sought after keynote speaker. And yes, she is also a legend and hero of mine. Her interview from the 2018 Machine Learning Conference is a great example why this is true. Dr. Cassie is also funny as hell. I highly recommend you subscribe to her Decision Intelligence newsletter.

3) Astro Teller, Captain of Moonshots at X?(@astroteller)

Yup, another legend with another Wikipedia page. But come on, if your name is Astro Teller then you are destined to be cool. Technically his first name is Eric but other than family I doubt anyone calls him by that anymore. He's headed up Alphabet's Moonshot factory since 2010 and is yet another sought after speaker and storyteller from the Alphabet family. His website is an excellent starting point to learn about his views and approach to Intelligent Technology.

__________________________________________________________________________4) Ivy Ross, VP Head of Design for all Hardware Products.

According to Ivy's Wikipedia page (notice a trend?) "Ross's metal work in jewelry design is in the permanent collections of 12 international museums, including the Smithsonian in Washington D.C." When your work is in the Smithsonian while you are still working, then by all definitions you are a legend. And Ivy is a legend in the hardware design space. And yes, she is an outstanding storyteller and sought after speaker. Her interview with dezeen in 2019 on the obligation companies like Google have when it comes to sustainability is a must read.

5) Derek Blasberg, Director, Fashion and Beauty, YouTube (@DerekBlasberg

If you are into fashion as I am then you recognize the name Derek Blasberg. Okay, I'm not exactly into fashion but I was introduced to Derek by a fellow Googler Liz Morgan, and yes, Derek is incredibly cooler than me. And yes, Derek has a Wikipedia page that highlights all of his incredible accomplishments. Elle magazine profiled Derek with the following headline: How Derek Blasberg Became The Most Connected Man In Fashion. Derek is a sought after speaker, writer, and obviously fashion expert.
