#5 Going Live
Big stories have no bedtime. Increasingly readers expect news stories in real-time, no matter the hour or where they happen. News live blogs have seen their numbers skyrocket during the pandemic and this has led to more investment from publishers. The BBC is launching a new live team with thirty-one journalists(!) and The New York Times has hired six new journalists for its 24/7 Live Team to "seize even more big news moments”. And while only a few might have the resources of these two news powerhouses it’s a sign that good authoritive and dynamic live reporting will be a key digital native pillar.

In a fascinating (long) article Ben Thompson analyzes the advertising landscape and how the traditional marketing funnel is increasingly compressed into a single impression: you see an ad on Instagram, you click on it to find out more, you login with Shop Pay, and then you wonder what you were thinking when it shows up at your door a few days later.
