It’s almost a cheat code. You know what you need to say and when to say it, so put your ego away and do the right thing.

Also, too much of this takes away from the overall impact, so the key here is balance.

Some may appreciate public recognition, while others might value private appreciation or tangible rewards. By providing the things your people actually want, your team will see that you listen and care for their opinions.?
  • Celebrate Milestones: Acknowledge significant milestones, such as work anniversaries, project completions, or personal achievements, to show employees that their time and effort are valued. It’s also cool to highlight major life accomplishments, too. Birthdays, babies, and graduations, are all examples of things to celebrate as well.?
  • Encourage Peer Recognition: Foster a culture where employees are encouraged to recognize and appreciate each other's contributions, enhancing team spirit and camaraderie. This is a huge plus if you can create ongoing organic recognition loops!

If the answer is by email or phone, you’re missing the mark. Try Slack, Basecamp, or something similar for group communications.?

Actively seek and value their feedback to improve business processes and workplace culture. This also means not to shut down something your employee says that you don’t like, especially in a group setting.?

This includes sharing both successes and failures and discussing the rationale behind significant decisions. It’s your obligation to be honest as a leader. Tell your team what is in your head so they have an opportunity to fix it.?
