Living in Toronto

Right off the bat, let’s start with what it’s actually like to live in Toronto. Toronto has consistently ranked as one of the best cities? to live in.. I believe this is due to our healthcare, education and culture. Interestingly enough, according to Forbes, Toronto was placed impressively high on their list of best international cities to call home. I think that’s pretty amazing.

Multiculturalism

Toronto is known for its friendly, and welcoming people but did you know that Toronto is considered to be one of the most multicultural cities in the world. More than 180 languages are spoken in the city – also, 53% of Torontonians are born outside of Canada.?

Climate and Access to Nature

Moving along to Toronto’s climate and access to Nature.? In a city as densely populated as Toronto, many high-quality natural areas still remain. Most of these natural areas are found in ravines, river valleys and along the waterfront.?

If you love the colder months, you might be interested to know that Toronto has a continental climate. The average temperature for January is between -1 and -7 (30 and 19 F) in the city. There are usually a few colder periods where temperatures remain below -10C (14F) and less frequently below -20C (-4F) at night (especially in the northern suburbs), with wind chills making it feel like -30C (-22F).?

Now if you hate the cold like I do, you might find this daunting but if I can get through the winters here, then so can you.?

Sports

One of my personal favorite things about Toronto is its love for sports. Did you know that Toronto is the only city in Canada with seven major-league sports teams. Basketball, football, hockey, baseball, rugby, soccer and lacrosse.

If you’re a sports fan, this is your city!

Famous Festivals

Believe it or not, Toronto is famous for its festivals. Toronto hosts over 90 major festivals per year and they are amazing.

There are some quite famous ones including the Toronto International Film Festival which is one of the largest publicly attended film festivals in the world. It has become one of the city’s most important events and something that citizens look forward to all year.

The Canadian National Exhibition which is Canada’s largest annual fair featuring games, and rides and Nuit Blanche which is an annual all-night arts festival.?

Toronto's Hollywood Celebrities

Toronto is home to some of Hollywood’s most famous. Some of the most popular celebs who grew up here in Toronto include Jim Carrey, Mike Myers,? Shawn Mendes, The Weeknd and Drake, who lived on Weston Road and in Forest Hill, he also played a wheelchair-bound teen on Degrassi.?

Those are my 5 facts to make you fall in love with Toronto.? There is so much more to discover here and if you are considering moving to the city, I think you’ll quickly learn that Toronto is a great city to call home.?
