It is time for you to raise the quality of your Facebook advertising. With numerous businesses competing for the attention of your audience, you must break the scene with a strategy that surpasses that of your competitors. To do this, you have to avoid certain bad advertising habits that decrease the effectiveness of your campaigns. Stay off the blacklist this season by avoiding the five bad advertising habits explained below.
1. Not Updating Your Ad
If you want to be a good advertiser, you should keep the habit of updating your ads every two weeks. If you promote the same ad (I'm not talking about different offers) with the same text and image, your audience will experience a phenomenon called advertising fatigue. People who suffer from advertising fatigue will be indifferent to your ad after having seen it multiple times. The ad, instead of grabbing the attention of your audience, simply fades into the background, among the sea of Facebook posts and ads.
2. Not Thinking About a Goal
Starting a Facebook ad campaign without a clear goal in mind is a serious mistake. Without a goal, you can't create an ad that gets positive results. Before starting a Facebook ad campaign, ask yourself what you want your ad to do for you, what you want it to achieve. Do you want your Facebook ad to collect customer information? Do you want me to take people to your website, encourage them to like your Facebook page or buy your services?
The functions and optimization of your ads depend on your objective. To make the most of your Facebook ads, you need to know what advertising goal you have to pursue.
3. Not Thinking Through Your Budget
Don't waste money on Facebook advertising without knowing how much you can afford to invest. Will you be able to pay the CPC, CPA or CPM of your ad? Will you be able to pay for A / B Testing, a process necessary to run a successful ad campaign? While you want to make sure you can afford Facebook advertising, you should also avoid spending too little so you don't lose to other Facebook advertising bidders. Because Facebook advertising is an auction to rank you on their platform, the lower you pay for Facebook ads, the lower your chances of winning a place and reaching a wider audience.
4. Not Testing Images
The image of your ad is the first element that catches the attention of your audience. Because it's an important part of your ad, the part that potentially determines whether or not it will show, you should test the images against each other to see which one works best. For example, Sketchdeck, a company that provides online design tools, tested various graphic ads against each other. He found that images without text performed better than images with text; images of women performed better than images of men; and images without a logo perform better than images with a logo. In this experiment, Sketchdeck learned that you should never assume which images will work well.
5. Not Analyzing Your Data
After you have run your ads for a few weeks, doing A / B tests on each other, you have to analyze the data that Facebook records for you. The free information from Facebook gives you information about the demographics of your audience, the relevance score of your ad and the amount of interaction, among many other vital information. Data analysis lets you see what works and what doesn't. It allows you to improve your campaign to obtain better ROI (Return On Investment).
If you are practicing one or some of the bad habits mentioned above, don't worry. You can change your advertising strategies now.
